enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....

for anyone travelling through the czech republic (and potentially other countries) just be aware of where you buy your Vignette -

this youtube video is well worth a look, the scam will only cost you a few euros more than it should, but multiply that by 1000 vignettes per day ....

What’s this Vignette?

The scam is that the people issuing the vignette charge you an extortionate exchange rate when you buy the vignette (a sort of legally required up front toll payment based on duration and not on use/mileage)

There is usually a legal machine very close to the booth where you only pay the correct rate. Make sure that if you pay online you're not directed to anything other than the official website.

Only HGV's.
Thought that was what was meant? any other type of vignette in europe is only usually for types of toll road so why would you charge foreign drivers on a free road system? We don't here ,nor do the French or Germans.

Think the Swiss is for motorways or A roads.
It is hard to get around France quickly without using their toll roads. At least in the UK foreign drivers can get virtually anywhere without toll roads and with free motorways and A roads.

Watch out in the Czech republic. The real police once tried to scam me. Said I was illegally parked but i has only stopped for a second, and they said I had a pay a fine in cash. I said I didnt have cash. They got really aggressive. I stuck to my guns and eventually they gave up.

And trams in Prague can have people pretending to be police checking tickets and fining unaware tourists
