Hi,

When I applied for mine I supplied a photo of page 1 & 2 of my V5 just to be on the safe side but I think you only need a photo of page 2. Its all very straightforward.

Duffie,
At only 4.51 Euros (in july 2020) for the life of your van it avoids hassle and uncertainty as the classification you are given will make it easy to know which cities you may enter.
Use the official french government site.

Sorry Rebbyvid beat me to it.

As already said by rebbyvid above, be careful where you apply.
There is a very official and convincing site that frequently comes up on Google that will charge you a lot more than the French government site.

Richard.

Like many above.. For the few euros they cost, just get one.
You may not plan to drive in any towns or cities BUT roadworks and getting lost could always happen.

Follow the official link as above (y)

The only downside is once you register they have all your details to send a speeding ticket to you IF you get caught on the MANY MANY cameras
alway at the bottom of a hill on a wide straight road , so easy to over speed if you don’t brake ☹️

Best to have it just in case you need to enter any crit air zones, you can put it on the windscreen next to your “we’ve been vaccinated sticker” 😷

I found the biggest problem with French one is making the V5 file small enough to attach. Its a ridiculously small file allowance. German one is no problem

I remember that being an issue.

I got my wife to do it in the end because it was beyond me.

I meant in previous years ... thou that said the French are pretty good at collecting 'taxes' - in future they'll probably nab us at the ports if we have anything outstanding.
