Phoned my local doctors clinic last week from France to make an appointment for a three-monthly blood check, phone back next week, they said. Phoned back today, this clinic is closed due to an outbreak of Covid. What? Is it that bad? Think I should stay here!!

Doctor’s surgery and local hospital in Ciren have dropped the ‘must wear a face covering/mask’ edict this week, as cases are falling……..

Occasionally you hear on the news that cases are increasing but life just goes on now. Covid isn't really a thing anymore. It's very last year.

Nationally covid is going up, hospital admissions have risen to about 1000 a day. But JVT gave an interview today where he said we basically just need to live with it. It's going to be around for a few more years yet.

Apparently Covid cases are up 40% as a result of all the Jubilee get-togethers. Of course, that's a 40% increase on what applied just beforehand so I that's hardly a definitive answer. :)

We had to cut short our 3-week exploration of Yorkshire last Monday because of a visit from the Covid Fairy in Wensleydale. I've had worse bouts of flu. In fact, I described Covid as Eric Morecambe Flu. "All the right symptoms but not necessarily in the right order, sunbeam." :D

Living with it doesn’t mean throwing caution to the wind. The government has stopped collecting stats which is not helpful.

We have family from Australia staying with us at the moment, Not once have they even considered returning home through UK Covid levels. Perhaps you should stay in France Dorwyn.:giggle:

It has to be bad if your own doctor says, can't help, come back next week!!

How do they know this as COVID self test reporting is now more or less ignored.
Have a look at the Zoe app and ask the ONS how they collect stats….ONS collected stats befor self reporting around other illness etc.

according to the Wales news 1 person in 45 in Wales had it last week. as pappajohn mentioned above with few people officially reporting positive results how do they know.

Mrs Maison checked positive for COVID this morning after being quite unwell yesterday, so yes, it is still about.

Death rates from covid are currently twice that of flu. Also long term consequences, which can be really bad, are worse than flu. If I can find the science article this is from I will post it.

Many people think COVID is past event…… However because of complacency it is increasing significantly.

Look in most places ( buses, trains, shops, pubs etc), who tries to keep decent spaces, how many wear masks?

Just because Covid related deaths have thankfully fallen, it doesn’t mean it is not a risk.

My brother in law is effectively confined to his house because he is on immune suppressant drugs and the risk of exposure to COVID is too high to go out - just one example of the many thousands for whom the risk of COVID is extreme.

So to those who think COVID is a done deal, or jest about people using it as an excuse to skip work etc…… You are idiots!

Have been reading about Covid with a bit more interest as these headaches were really starting to worry me, they reckon it can be weeks and possibly months for the headaches to subside, alcohol to be avoided as this will induce a headache (not just the amount)

I can testify I felt 95% better yesterday and as it was 27deg tried a nice Peroni, boy did I regret that, at 12:30 woken up as if someone was trying to take my eyes out with a ice pick, and has lasted most of the day to varying degrees, looks like the end of this tour could be Tee Total 🥲🥲🥲

Prof Van Tam was on the radio today. Yes, infection rates are high but hospitalisation is low. However, there are two variants of Omicron circulating right now.

He did say that we are just going to live with it all and get with life.
