Hi Team,

We are back in UK and looking to buy a house in Cornwall so we will be driving around in the van for quite a while (!)

We are members of C&CC but wonder if anyone would recommend CAMC as well/instead? Not worried about facilities although electricity would be useful. Price is the biggest single issue so looking for cheap (other than occasional FLTing!).

I have checked the CAMC online but a bit like C&CC the prices are a bit vague :cautious:

Any ideas anyone? (Having just come back from 2 months in France,Spain,Germany the idea of paying too much for a site hurts! hehe)

Ta in advance :)

CAMC sites are expensive and lots of people find them over-regimented. They do have lots of CLs though all over the place, many of which are quite reasonable.

Haven holiday sites

You could try I think it’s called dolbeare they do offers in the winter.

We dont use club sites for the reasons as stated in Devon & Cornwall. We would do the pubstops, for touring, but for a few days RR, fill tanks, and empty etc.
We have used the following indie sites which we use as base camps to get out and about, they are very good value, great views, very secure & friendly owners, very quiet this time of year.

Holsworthy, North Devon... Headon Farm Caravan/camping & Storage site. www.headonfarm.co.uk
16 AMP Hookup, toilets and shower block, working beef farm with easy access.

Cornwall, Carnon Wollas touring park, near falmouth, indie owned, EHU, Water & Grey waste on each pitch, but no shower facilities.
Closed some months in winter, but open over xmas, give owners a call I am sure they will help out for a good customer:D

Might see you down there over the festive season.
Good luck

If you’re still there in April tregarton park is under a tenner. Ehu , showers etc.

The sites are cheaper in winter but you won't find much under £20 a night. However, you won't find even many CLs open in winter though there are a few but unless they have hard standing most will close. The only CMC site open all winter is at Truro - but its £25 a night for two people.
The cheapest near Cornwall is near Taunton at Wellington - £14 a night including electricity but it has no facilities other than water and dump point. But it is nearly hour from Plymouth.
We could put you up for a night or so if want on the way too and from Cornwall. :)

Camelford c&m works for us, central location and allways space even in high season. Treago farm @ Crantock gets busy at half term, saint mother ivys bay has a lovely private beach, trevarda farm at sennen cove, merrose farm c&m all can get busy which is when retreat back to Camelford.

Another one of our faves Treweth farm, Tintagel C&M club is also very good, good views, if you can do non electric you will be on the edge off the cliff with amazing sunstes over the atlantic, look up at the stars to see the milky way on a clear night, can get a bit windy up there though. Follow the footpath left and you will walk down to valley of the rocks, look out for the old watermill to find the labrynth carvings from the bronze age, turn right and you get to Boscastle, try the crab near the witches museum. St Nectans glen is a good day out, lovely waterfalls, and of course Tintagel castle. You can walk or bus to these places from here. Or if you prefer the local cp near the castle you can overnight behind the pub for £10 i think.
Marizion is also worth a visit for st michaels mount, dove meadows touring park, is a good location or you can park for £10 day. Also the Minack theatre is amazing, not easy to park a motorhome near but worth the effort, if your lucky there might be spaces at the local cp but get there ealry if peak season.
