I've not seen this style of seating configuration in a mid-size continental van before so I'm assuming that Pilote is trying to capture a bigger share of the UK market.

This is the new low profile P740FGJ model and comes with the twin bed-over-garage configuration.

Used to be loads of German vans with that layout but have all been dropped over the last 10 years. Layouts go in fads depending on whats selling, island beds were top dog a few years ago but have been getting phased out over the last couple of years.

My 2014 Pilote had the same layout without the table. The folding table was neatly kept in a cupboard. My current Le Voyageur has the same layout. It is rather good

What model is it please?

Explorateur 780 FGJ ,the only one we ever found! looked at it for ages on internet until I saw the seatbelts and read the description...4 travelling seats  upgraded the front springs and max weight to 5200kg.

Think you'll have to look at La Voyageurs :) I'm told we can't afford one

It’s why we like our B544, twin sofas and swivel front seats so lots of space to relax , drop down bed but we are happy with that and it’s always made up ready , all in a
6.5 m van.

We see a lot of this layout on German vans but do find that the table gets in the way of moving around so prefer the side bar table options.

We were very interested in a Pilote but then found they make no allowance for the driver in there payload figures so the so the 425 kg payload immediately becomes 335kg allowing for my 90 kg if I wanted to stay below 3500 kg weight add the weight of the wife + essentials like a awning and they are just not usable unless going for a chassis upgrade.

That sounds very nice:cool:

Once I get this Airstream fad out of my head then I'll pop down to have a look at the Le Voyageur range:D

That's a good point you make Steve.

The official figures have not yet been released but it will be lighter than my MY17 P740GJ for sure.

If I use the realtime figures on my own 2-berth van then a new P740FGJ in 3.65T guise will have a 'catalogue' payload of about 750kg in Sensation form and 800kg in Essential spec. (That's MIRO minus fuel and gas etc).

You then need to subtract the weights for all fuel, water, people, gas, gear and then the dreaded bit for the van being heavier than first quoted. My own van is about 40-50kg heavier than the quoted MIRO figure.

All the best,

Andrew

We have the parallel seating in our Pilote too ( 715FC Explorateur).
Nice to stretch out your legs onto the side seats when sitting in the cab seats.
Keep posting stuff on Pilote @Blue Knight. I’m selfishly hoping you don’t go over to the “shiny side” for that reason.

Lovely words indeed - you're a star (y)

If Nicky and I stay with MoHo's then we will certainly stay with the Pilote Group. There's nothing better IMO :)

All the best,

Andrew
