Ducato 3.0 comformat
Hi

I have a 2013 Ducato XLB conversion. It has a 3.0 diesel with the comformatic gear box.

It’s recently developed an issue where it judders and sometimes stalls when setting off or trying to manoeuvre at slow speed. Once underway it’s fine. Seems to be worse when cold.

I did notice the the small reservoir for the transmission fluid appears to be empty so I have bought some fluid - but how do you get it in there??

Anyone seen this issue before ? How do you get the fluid in there? Any advice gratefully received.

We had an issue last summer the comformatic stalled once at a junction which it should never do and shortly afterwards got the no gears available message.

The breakdown checked and topped up the reservoir but in the end it was the flywheel variance out of tolerance which caused the problem as the van had little to no use previously.

Might be worth getting checked out by Fiat just to be safe.

Sounds a bit like the clutch needs adjusting. This can be achieved using MultiECUscan (MES) by performing the 'Actuator Base Adjustment'. It may be worth getting yourself a copy of MES and quality cables to connect to the OBD port. It will allow you to play about with all the electronics and it will pay for itself in no time.
I'd be careful about asking any garage to diagnose the problem. Unless they can say with absolute certainty that they can solve it they often end up replacing expensive components at your expense and hoping for the best.
