A few days ago I took the MH out of the yard for the first time in 6 months to fill the diesel and LPG.

I finished both but having paid there was a transit van parked very close, so I was concentrating on how to navigate round his mirror and then turn without entering the Mars stand in the shop nor clobbering his van with the overhang swing. Worked that out and set off.

Drove the 1km to home, where our gate entrance is wide but opposite a traffic island so I have to enter at about 45 degrees and bump over a bit of kerb.

CRUNCH noise.

Yes I had left the steps down after 12 years. We do have an alarm, but I have blocked ears ATM and co-pilot was away on holiday.

Damage was mainly to bottom step, but it was mangled to about 30-40 degrees out of true.

New step? Where from? N&B- very expensive, long wait.

Call our regular garage, comes up, 'We can probably do something'.

One working day later we call in there about something else and he proudly presents the steps fully functional :giggle: :giggle:

These guys have engineering expertise not just maintenance. Charged me about £100.

I am well happy for my silly mistake.

You may have forgotten that other silly mistake, with my sister, sometime back. Can I charge you another hundred pounds and make you even happier?

I am surprised your motorhome doesn't lift the steps automatically when you start the engine.
