I’m so confused! Here’s a screen shot of page 14 of the Fiat Scheduled serving Plan. Is it just me or can you also see the mistake?!

What I’m trying to find out is when should the gearbox all be changed?

I was told it’s a sealed for life system. If you do change it , it needs a main dealer to do it because of the softwares needed.

That's to check oil not replace.

The clutch fluid is separate from the gearbox oil. I'm not certain whether the clutch fluid reservoir is a separate container on the comfortmatic or if it it shared with the brake fluid reservoir as on the manual gearbox version. In any case it uses brake fluid and the recommended change interval is the same as for the braking system, so it would be prudent for both to be changed at the same time.

The gearbox oil is supposedly for life and only requires a level check according to the schedule. Whether it might be beneficial to change the oil is another matter, but you will probably only get the official "filled for life" response from a dealer.

But as your images says:

Check the gearbox oil level every 48,000 km. Check the clutch fluid level and condition every 48,000 km. I believe the third line should state "Change the fluid in the clutch hydraulic operating system" every 2 years, in line with the recommended brake system fluid change.

If the gearbox has a means to drain and fill I would change the oil. Transmission oilis no different to any other and deteriorates over time. "Sealed for life" rings a little hollow when the manufacturer assumes the life will be 10 years max with no standing idle. The gearbox is more or less a conventional manual operated by external hydraulic servos. As such there should be no mystery about performing an oil change.

I guess that the only thing to do is ring the fiat/iveco dealer and ask them. Then it’s down to who you believe the most.

The clutch fluid is separate to the Comfort-Matic hydraulic actuator fluid. Both of these 2 systems are completely seperate to the gearbox (so 3 separate fluid/oil systems)

Gearbox oil change should be straightforward, but I wouldn't touch the other two as they're are ultra sensitive and involve very accurate calibration using Fiat diagnostic software.
