Hi

We want to go to cognac just for one night. The aire behind Hennessay factory only has spaces for 3 motorhomes. Anyone know an alternative in case this is full nearby?

Thanks

We stopped here a few years ago. You can see a couple of vans but local camping carists were stopped all around here. We parked towards the bottom right of the map overlooking the river.

I've found this in "Search for Sites"

It's not in Cognac but just to the west.
Having said that, just across the road from the Brandy factory, there is a car park. Been there, not read the signs as we weren't staying but you never know. Anyway;

Found another one for you. Some contradictory comments as to whether there is a 2.4M limit but it would appear there is a way around the bridge that is causing probs. In Cognac but on the outskirts.

Very nice place to spend a day with the children, for the limited passage to 2,4 m you have another passage by following base of open air or swimming pool.

No prohibition of height I do 3.38 m, no water, no electricity, leisure base for children, path along the Charente for bike ride, there was some going- comes from car the police station told me it is a cheerful meeting place, no worry, very quiet corner

Superb location. No water no electricity. In the shade, little passage out of season.

The way to get there is not good. There is a bridge i no more than 2.4 m for camping-car application it's weird, take the direction base outdoors and you get there

One night stop, very quiet, possibility to go into town by bike along the green lane that runs along the Charente. Leisure and playground for children. I recommend this crossing if you need to spend a couple of nights in Cognac

Thanks to all of you for thinking about Capuchin motorhomes or higher than normal. For information this parking is impossible for a camper more than 2,80 m there is a bridge. Good trips to all.

Quite calm, no services, few dating, passing a few cars at night, numerous sites.

Thanks JeanLuc but the link wouldn't open for us
Sorry about that, it must be because I am using the iPad google maps app and have not worked out how to get a publicly accessible link.
Basically, the location is on the opposite side of the river from Hennessy and a bit closer to the main town bridge, (not the one that carries the relief road).

I have parked along the track to the left of where the car is parked. However, it is just possible that there is a barrier there now. Sorry, but cant tell from the photo.

I stayed there 3 weeks ago. All 3 bays were full, the four bays at the bourne were full (borne hasn't worked for a couple of years I was told) and at least 6 others stayed in the free car park adjacent to the official 3 bay aire. It appears most campingcaristes park anywhere they can. If you're going for a tour of the Hennessey distillery they do open Saturday morning too.

If you do manage to tour the Distillery, ask you guide (you might have to do it on the side) if he/she will let you see "paradise"

NO! Tiz not like that, jeezz! Tiz like an underground cavern/cave where they have stored 2 bottles,of every year, since they started
producing the Cognac.

We bunged the girl after as a thank you, as an aside she had the most amazing grey eyes, never seen any before, or since that colour.

No idea if it has a suitable aire - but don't discount nearby Jarnac... home to Courvoisier & Hine... do very good tours.

Tours are graded... from walk in upwards.
I've previously had 2nd & 3rd level tours by virtue of prebooking, and having a loose association with Hilton & BA.

We have friends who live relatively close, I don't know what Brandy they drink, but it's fantastic.
