Hi Funsters can you tell us what to use to get clean up the white silicone sealant that has gone black above the windscreen between the cab and the coachbuilt bodywork on our Burstner? We’ve tried WD40 and pink stuff

can I ask another question relevant to this thread, I need to reseal mine between overhead cab and windscreen, any body got recommendations based on experience what sealer to use?

Long arms help as well.

I used sikafix 522 caravan when I did mine a few years ago
Search on here others prefer other makes and versions.

Thanks wonders, just got to work out how I'm going to build a platform so I can reach the centre 😀

I managed it with steps next to front wheel and stand on top of tyre and steps. Reach across from each side to middle with sealant gun. Smooth bead withe finger withe small amount of washing up liquid to smooth. (y)

Bumping this thread as I need to clean some silicone seals that are brown or even black from dirt.
Going to try some spray kitchen cleaner unless anyone has a better method.

Caustic TFR scrubbed in with a detailing brush then thoroughly rinsed off.

I had a lot of dried on flies on the front of our motorhome last spring so used a bug remover spray. (sorry cant remember which one)
It also made the white sealant look like new.
(Note - apply to a small sample area first and don't spray onto graphics etc)

I have used a white 'magic' sponge with water, available at supermarkets and it works perfectly.

Silicon Entferner by Mellerud................Silicon cleaner from Mellerud...I get it from Amazon, does a good job, used it a lot on the last MH as the silicone seals were of the poorest quality...

A ladder with plenty of foam/sponge padding against the front of the van, with the base against a wall or post to stop it sliding away. Should be strong enough to let you crawl up; I had to do this to seal the overcab skylight.
