have a wildax aurora with the above engine 1st jan 2015 reg 40000 on the clock and I keep getting differing info on when the belt should be changed I think it should be 75000 or ten years garage is saying 50000 5 years any advice folks

Is it the same as the Peugeot 2.2 engine? If so it has a chain not a belt, if it’s same as fiat 2.3 it’s a belt.

5 years is my understanding, 10 years for a rubber belt rather unlikely. When you have seen the damage possible when an old tired belt lets go, you wouldn't want to gamble

ignore what I said above, the puma engine is a chain driven

What makes you think that?

I would believe Peugeot over a local garage but as its allegedly chain driven its immaterial anyway.
Oppps, CITROEN

If it's chain driven I think you need a new garage!!
in the garages defense they have asked me to take it to them for a look what they are saying is PVC are notorious for being stood around before conversion and hence could be a 2013 vehicle which they say would be another engine with belt apparently its right on the change over why is nothing simples these days:(

simply go on one of the motor factors website, enter your reg number and search for cam belt and cam chain. see which is offered up

Just look under the bonnet a belt will have a plastic casing if a chain it will be steel.

Not strictly true, there is a plastic casing covering the accessory belt which the OP could easily mistake as a cam belt cover.
