Check on seller _ Mark Hancock of Crewe

I live 3 miles from Nantwich road Crewe. I have travelled it a 1000 times since 2003. Not only that but I am a Motorhome buff. If this place existed on Nantwich road Crewe I am pretty sure I would have seen it.
unless
He doesn't store motorhomes there.
In which case, no way.

But anyone who parts with 50% of their money prior to seeing something needs to have a serious word with themselves. See it, see the paperwork, explore the history and then decide.
I can echo this...I have lived in Crewe all my life and have never heard of him.

I'm another one who has been been googling the info.

That address is for an accountants office (entrance door round the corning in the side street!) which is listed as the registered office for a whole series of different companies. That could be genuine!

Has anyone found the vans elsewhere for sale on the internet ?
Lived at the other end of Nantwich Rd for about 15 years and went past that shop twice a day to the station - nothing to do with caravans or motorhomes. The only legit mohos around there are Malcolms Motorhomes on Gresty Rd near the railway bridge.

Interesting....

Hi. We are currently looking to buy our first motor home. Obviously this is an investment and not one taken lightly! Does anyone know, or have personal experience buying from Mark Hancock of Crewe?
We have shown interest in a home and he’s willing to deliver on a 48 hours trial for a 50% deposit. Money fully refunded within 2 days if not wanted. It’s 6 hour drive to deliver. Is this type of offer normal or are my alarm bells warranted?
Thanks
I agree with all other comments plus the domain markhancockcaravans.co.uk was first registered april 2023 and registered in the netherlands

That is just the domain registration company who registered the domain name not relative to the company that owns the domain.

Wholely believe this Is a scam but Motorhome Depot which is a nationwide company, and sell via brokerage, list theirs like this (photos of vans on the owners drive) so operate differently to usual brokers
They do have a site though

Others have already covered this pretty conclusively and I concur it is a scam.

If you were a full member here you could download the buyers guide which would help you out no end. Covers literally everything you would need to know about buying a motorhome and more. Be well worth your first years membership fees as he used to sell it I believe?

DO NOT PART WITH ANY CASH!

I had a similar experience, motorhome advertised on Ebay as a must sell by this weekend. Liaised with lady seller who wanted a 10% deposit to hold until I viewed as lots of interest and I was travelling 250miles each way to view.

Only when there was hesitation on where the van would be to view (unrecognised storage facility) did I start to wonder. I asked for the vehicle reg and vin number as I told them I wanted to get an insurance quote and with the van being so expensive, the insurer insisted on the vehicle reg to give me an accurate quote.
Once I got this, I paid for an HPI check. it came back immediately as a red flag.
I got called by HPI and by the finance company to say do not part with any cash or buy the van as it wasn't theirs to sell.
Finance company's private detective then contacted me to say that there's a gang that makes a living out of advertising motorhomes and asking for up front deposits, only for the van not to be where it is meant to be for viewing and the buyer loses their deposit.
The van I was looking at had been used to con 4 other people out of £1000's.
Fortunately, the private detective had enough evidence to pass to the police and the police had made arrests and were awaiting trial. Not soon enough to save some from losing some of their lifetime savings.

Any reputable seller will not insist on asking for a high deposit.

£100 or there about is fair enough - on condition that you agree to any terms between you.
Car dealerships often request this and refund after you've visited, or may keep the fee if it involves transporting the vehicle from one of their other dealership sites but often deduct it from the balance if you buy it.
50% deposit on something you've not seen and may not like/buy is astronomical.

Too good to be true = it is untrue.

No point googling the address, no point looking at the website, no point ringing any numbers....This is 100% scam.

TOO CHEAP = SCAM

Only part with any money when you have seen it, felt it, and checked it out thoroughly. You are almost certain to loose a lot of money falling for that scam.
No-one, but no-one, would deliver a moho 6 hours away for 50% of the money, and give it back to you if not wanted.
Stay away it's a SCAM!

He is selling a Chausson Welcome 620 @ £21,600.

Thats a very fair price in that a very similar van is on sale at White Arches motorhomes @£52,995. (AutoTrader)

The vans must be very similar, they have the same registration number.

How do people like this sell any vehicles, it’s amazing how they get away with it, willing to deliver for a 50% deposit on a 48 hour money back trial.

It’s so upsetting to think that anybody could fall for it.

Makes you wonder though doesn't it, even at his prices they are well over priced, what do you get for your 20 grand, an old van a bit of wood and plastic, and something that wants money spending on it all the time, if you break it down 5 grand is more than enough for any old second hand van.
And that's not to mention 100 grand ones.

Unfortunately, a lot of us, myself included, can only afford the second hand vehicles....and I'm sure old or new, things go wrong and money is spent on either option

They spend so much effort getting the websites set up and looking believable then (luckily for us) put stupidly unbelievable prices on the vans.
Funnily enough , Andrea just said if they put almost believable prices they would probably get more people interested.
Scam scam scam scam

Ltd company’s that’s been trading for 10, 15 even 20 years can be purchased for a price.

This is how scams start and they use legit addresses for mail drops and hence it starts.

Once a name, address is sourced a bank account is setup and then away they go.

Be careful, if it ain’t in front of your eyes, at the address on the V5 or a forecourt then it’s buyers beware.

This is (presumably) the home address of the directors, if anyone is passing by and wants to knock on their door….

Absolutely! I think I would want to know that my business was being trashed by someone else.
