I'm going to view a Chausson 718XLB (2018) its done just over 9000 miles with a view on buying. Has anyone purchased one and can give me any good and bad reviews, faults etc please? Service recommendations I think it should of had a 2 year service? What does that entail ? At what age is the timing belt changed? Think it should of had habitation checks yearly too any advise will be gratefully received. I'm very much a Newbie so be gentle Many Thanks

Is it Ford or Fiat? Neither base vehicle from 2017/18 has a timing chain, they're both belts. The Ford is replaced every 150,000 miles or 10 years, lasts longer as it's a U rated in oil belt. The Fiat every 5 years for a motorhome as they still use the standard E rated dry belts.

The dealer or owner will have the vehicle history , hab checks etc. MoHo's from new have to have their services done or they're breaching the warranty.

Chausson are Trigano Group platform... nothing wrong with them.

Decent Van's with very modern look, and feel. Only problem I have heard of is damp in the garages and some have had to have the garage doors looked at. One round corner from me always has duck tape around the door.

Like previous poster says, nothing wrong with them

Hi,

Having a Chausson of the same vintage (627GA) I am more than happy with it.

Something to check if fitted is the front panoramic window lifting at 50+ - had ours changed to a four catch model.

On the the garage issue, I did have to adjust the locker door catches to hold the door tighter against the seal but easily done.

Had a window resealed as well but teething problems on a new van.

Listed payload is spot on (nearly 600KG) & some may mention this is due to lighter cupboards/construction but to me this is a good thing as we don't have to uprate weight.

Ford base on a full automatic is a great drive.

Hope that assists.

Rob

Top idea! A must as a first option and in 99% of cases cures the problem. Totally different to garage leaking tag axle Auto Trails which needed a new seal design. They sent hundreds back to the manufacturer with a little missive about where they could relocate them... for educational purposes, of course!

Furniture made from 8 -10mm ply, industry standard stuff now and the fixings are made from lighter & more flexible materials. Nothing wrong at all with the build quality of a Chausson. The Euro only so called entry level Challenger range is excellent.

Internal styling Is very much to the individuals taste, in the past we've always leaned to the darker woods of Auto Trail, Rapido etc but we've found the newer light and dark contrasts very appealing.

Hi Jonno

The original owner did tighten up the catches too and had a window re sealed but the van was in immaculate condition, This van is on a fiat base with manual gears but has cruise control, I left a deposit

Yes I like the light and dark contrast too, I can't wait to get it home. I've got to extend my path and thinking of dropping 4 retractable locking posts at the end of my drive for added security.
