I'm pretty sure the club website (or their own) will say. It varies from site to site.

Certificated Sites (CSs) are what the Camping and Caravanning Club call them. The Caravan and Motorhome Club call them Certificated Locations (CLs). Supposed to be members only.

what they actually say

"If you’re looking for a very special holiday experience, there are over 2000 small, five pitch sites, waiting to be found in every corner of the UK. Certificated Locations (CLs) are hidden gems offering picturesque solitude away from the crowds that are exclusively for our members. "

We use them almost exclusively, and while some of the more rural and are slack about membership, popular ones with good facilities, hard standings and EHU will generally ask for your membership number when you book, or ask for your card when you arrive..

If you want to enjoy them to the full, join the C&MC and get the latest handbook and location map.. plus many other Club benefits..

We have stayed in both, with out been members. Mostly these sites are run by farmers for a bit of extra income. All they are interested is a “tenner” in his back pocket, but don’t expect a receipt!

We stayed at some in Northumberland, neither asked for club details, as we aren't members of any club. We actually didn't know we had to be members, got the details from Camper Contact. One farmer was so cheap we gave him a few quid extra as the place was so nice and he let us have some fresh eggs.
