Hello All, I have a Carthago 138 Compact-Line which has developed a problem with the remote locking system. The hab door will not lock or open from the remote key fob, nor will it open using the door key, but we can oped the hab door using the internal door manual handle. Any help would be much appropriated.

I had this on my van, a Bessacarr, from new. When I stripped the door it was a tiny spring that had gone 'wonky'. Fitted a new spring and it has worked fine ever since.

Thanks very much WillH ill give that a try over the weekend(y)

If you have electrical contacts on the hab door and door frame, suggest you clean these - worth a try. I've heard this sometimes solves the problem.

I had this on a Laika - all it needed was a spray of WD40 on the innards.

Wd40 on door mechanisms, clean contacts before taking anything apart

I assume you have a Hartal hab door.

If the door isn't even opening using the key from the outside, then I suggest you check all the linkages which attach to the lock mechanism.

From what I remember of mending my own Hartal door the internal opening handle works a different set of linkages.

Have you tried operating the remote with the door closed to see if anything moves.

I don't recognise the part shown in the photo.

Thank you very much wagoneerie yes I have try with the central locking key and everything else. It knackered so need part need via carthago dealer which is a pain in the arsenal and hassle:rolleyes::dance:

Just out of interest.....how long does it take to get a Carthago part sent out to your dealer?hope it quicker than Swift as they quote 6 weeks!, and then the wrong part will arrive, so you have to start all over again....thank god \I dont have to live with those night mares any more:D
