Any body know anything about a CBE PRS 300 solar regulator?
We are just in the process of purchasing a used Carthago. It has 2 solar panels fitted which are 120W each. The regulator is suitable for 300W according to the information I have. Is it any good?

CBE make excellent quality kit for many OEM suppliers so it should be good for up to 300w as spec

Is this it?

That is the one. I think it is a PWM rather than MPPT. Just wondering if it will perform OK or do I bin it and go straight to an MPPT.

It will be fine as a standard PWM unit, it will perform fine, will be well made and will be reliable.

I would run with it and if you find you need to try to harvest more solar or it fails then consider the upgrade to MPPT.

If you do need to or want to switch over it will be a simple DIY swap at a later date.

Did you swap out the PRS solar controller?

At the moment no. Checked the wiring and typically of dealers the connections were poor. They had tried to fit crimped terminals that were too small for the wire diameter. Although it is a PWM regulator it does perform quite well. I did have a battery master fitted which has proved to be successful. As we do not spend all our time off grid it is sufficient for us in the summer for 3 or 4 days including brief use of the inverter.

Okay, thanks, as just bought an e line and looking at upgrading. Yes, also considering a battery master-did you fit yours?
