Cash from ATMs

Just in case this is new to anybody - in Spain just now and ATMs were charging €5 - €7 to take money out. Yes, most places accept card payments, but I don't feel comfortable without some cash! So, thought I'd mention that Santander ATMs don't charge if you use their Edge debit card. Message ends

Or any of their debit cards. I have an everyday current account just for withdrawing money from ATMs in Spain and Portugal.

You need to shop around some banks only charge €2.
We dont use much cash now but before we came home last week we drew out €200 so we had some cash for our next trip, no charges in Portugal.

This year the only Spanish bank that didn’t charge was Cajasur, but that could change so check before committing,

Glad I took £200 worth with me then. And I thought UK banks were rip-off bustards. In the end came back with half of it and that will carry forward to my next trip.
