Our 2021 Carthago does not have a sunvisor. Instead it relies on the front blinds being lowered, so as such in makes a visor. There is a limit on the depth that the blind can be dropped. That means that for anyone of short stature it does no good at all.
I have been trying to source something to use instead. It would probably need to be fastened onto the underneath of the drop down bed. Does anyone have any ideas please, other than dark glasses, I have prescription RayBans, but heading South in France they don’t really do the job.

Are you 100% certain, i've just collected a brand new Rapido i1090 Distinction and it has sun visors built into the drop down bed, just at the very end nearest to windscreen. Infact we were told at handover that to use the electric drop down windscreen blind as a sunvisor was illegal, not sure if thats correct or not tbh.

Yes, absolutely certain. We have had it back to the dealers who tell us that they have checked and the drop limit can’t be altered. I’m not the only customer complaining and Carthago have been asked about the problem. The speed that Carthago reply to things it could be next year by the time that they answer the query.
There are different sequences to press the operation buttons and one of them drops the blind probably 1ft maybe a bit more.

mmhh!!

thats a very poor outcome then for you i'm afraid, i just wonder if lowering the front window blinds is indeed illegal, it would be an interesting conversation if it was

It explains how it works in the Carthago instruction manual, so they must think it’s legal.

if it only drops to a certain depth then maybe that’s why it’s ok, still doesn’t help you though unfortunately.

Our blind is electrically operated and drops completely to the bottom for privacy and also drops from the top, down towards the bottom to allow light in.

is yours an A class btw?

Certainly hope you can find a satisfactory solution

It isn't to my knowledge as it would make most coaches & lorries illegal?

Ours does the same, but there is also a sun blind setting. Yes it’s an A class so a big windscreen. I have found a bus blind, it’s a scissor action, I’m not sure about where or how to fix it. It’s a lot of money if it’s incorrect.

It seems silly to stop putting them in, our 2019 Compactline has them and we do use them even though our front blind has a 'stop' about 8" down from the top so it can be used too.

So long as you've got a suitable place to fasten some you could just get some car/van ones and fit them, alternatively you could see if you can fit a sun visor extension some how - hubby used to have a 'double' one which he used in our PVC and it worked a treat, lost of these type to choose from:

Our 2019 Carthago Compactline has sun visors and a manual blind. We never use the sun visors, we find lowering the blind to its first stop much more effective despite being shorties.

I always have a peaked cap close at hand in the van or when driving convertible car.

We can't manually move the blind, the height of the drop is not adjustable.

Our manual one has two locking points, one at fully open and one lowered to visor level. I thought the powered ones could be stopped at any point, similar to bus blinds.

It can be, but as soon as the ignition is turned on it either goes up completely or to the sunblind setting which is no low enough., depending on how the buttons have been set. The problem is my height and size 3 feet. if I lift the seat then my feet can't reach the pedals. I drove for a living for 40 odd years and invented all sorts of Heath Robinson contraptions to assist. But I think that any new motorhome, no matter on the price should have a decent sun visor. I have found a scissor type bus blind that looks ok but I'm not sure how to fasten it on there is no space. I'm back to finding out if the drop down bed has enough clearance when in the down position. I really think that it should be Carthago's problem to sort not mine. Himself is 5'8" and even he has a problem.

Our 2019 C-Tourer has sun visors fitted under the drop down bed and work just fine, could the dealer retro fit those by any chance? I don't have a picture to hand but happy to get one for you later.

Could you fit it to the front edge of the bed?

Our Hymer blind is a bit stupid it has a mechanical stop each side that are the sunblind setting. Talk about stupid they stop the blind about a inch down from the top of the screen, totally pointless.
I never use them I just set the blind to where I want it, not fallen down yet. A bit annoying that you can only adjust it with the engine off.

At this time of year with the sun so low on the horizon even in my car I find there are times when the sun visor is of limited use. When I get a chance to go to my motorhome in storage I will have a look to see whether the sun visors provide lower shading than the blind. However we opted for cupboards instead of the drop down bed so it probably doesn’t compare directly with your lack of visors.

Front edge of the bed is an investigation in progress.

No matter where we set it as soon as the ignition is on it either goes up completely or to the sun blind setting, which is too high and not adjustable.

I’ll go back to Camper U.K. and ask if they have had any replies from Carthargo, then I’ll follow up all your suggestions and do it myself.

many thanks everyone

Mine are on a swingdown metal frame so quite adjustable. Mind you, this time of the year the sun always seems to be in your eyes whatever you do.
