We were wondering which caravan club to join, now we have a motorhome, any advice appreciated.

Caravan & Motorhome Club allows you to book pitches at no cost as long as they are cancelled at least 72 hours before arrival, no problems. They tend to be more expensive but a higher standard of facilities

Caravan and Camping Club are cheaper pitches and require a non-refundable deposit to book. We like the Rallies that this club run in Europe. As a club they have not looked after their members very well this past summer.

We have belonged both in recent years

Go on , treat yourself, join both clubs. You'll have a choice of over 3 thousand locations to choose from.
I'm at CCC Windermere, £41 for the next three nights is ok in my book.
I think some of the site names were chosen by Ryan Air as you'd need transport from here to Windermere.

I joined c&mc this year and will also join cCC next year, only have to use main sites a few times to recoup membership.
Ps welcome aboard from down the coast.

we are members of both for various reasons, which you chooseshould depend on what way you want to use your van. If sites with showers etc is your thing then CAMH wins. If you want cheap rallies all over the country on greenfield sites, then C&CC is the one to choose

We do both, and rally with the C&CC throughout the summer. And mix that with MHF rallies of course. Then we use sites in spring autumn and early winter

We joined both but now are only in the C&MC. We like their CLs, which only have five pitches and we like their range of insurance. We've found Red Pennant to be excellent.

We also prefer the C&MC club sites to the other lot.

At least the caravan and camping club have extended the current years membership by the 3 months they were closed.
Nothing from the Caravan and Motorhome Club
but C&MC had a "20% discount" prepaid voucher scheme (now finished) that gave some form of "compensation".

Looks good but search facility not working :(
Yep.. there's one of their sites just up the road from me, but the 'search' doesn't seem to know about it.

? Not working as known Freedom Club sites aren't coming up in an area search?
I just re-found our upcoming site via their site: -

The above has answered question i was wanting answered. So i will not be joining any for the foreseeable future. I will continue using the Premier Parks Site and the 2020 AA Caravan & Camping Guide. Worked for us thus far.

This is the reason why we joined the other lot.
Plus the Temporary Holiday Sites..
Ditto. We used to be members over 30 years ago when we had a caravan and youngish kids. Could never get booked on any popular places at weekends because they were all booked within a day of booking opening. Members often used to book several for the same weekend and then cancel the ones they did not want. Still the same. but to a slightly lesser extent.

We used to be in both, but left CCC after they changed site pricing, which became less transparent. We’re still in CMC - primarily for their CLs (they have nearly twice as many as CCC have of their equivalents. I also think the standard of their sites is slightly better than CCC sites, or at least more consistent.

I think CMC system no longer allows you to book multiple sites for same dates. And the chaos induced by their old system (where all bookings for a calendar year were opened up on a single date) has been improved - I think you can book up to a year in advance, on a rolling basis.

Don't think a C&MC member can book more than one site for same or overlapping dates?

I'm a member of both but find I use the C&MC far more.

CMHC does not allow that. It only lets you have one booking at a timer and you if you have to change, you have to cancel the existing one first. It only takes a few mins to get through the system but I have had a few times the old squeaky bum time when cancelling one site to book another in case it gets booked in the small transition time.

We are members of CMHC primarily because we use their storage (not cheap and poor facilities but walking distance from home), we used to be a member of the CCC but found they have very few sites that we can get out 8.9m unit on.

As others have said, I would try both for a year or two and then make a decision yourself.
