Today I tried to get a quote from the above club and was told that as my fiat ducato was registered as PLG they could not give a quote.
They told me it needs to be registered as a motorhome, has any one else found this problem and how did you get round it.
Thanks in advance for any advice given

PLG is the taxation class and mine is the same. However, on the line above this in the V5 is body type and this is Motor Caravan.

I'm guessing yours says Van or something like that?

Having more choices of insurance companies is one of the benefits of it being registered as a Motor Caravan on the V5 so it may well be worth it going down that process, unless of course it does not meet the DVLA criteria.

C&MC are expensive anyway

This has just popped up on a Facebook site, looks like some storage areas might be difficult to insure at.

Can't find any mention on CAMC web site, not sure they'd get away with it mid policy anyway. Could this be fake news from a disillusioned Funster.

Assuming the information is genuine, that sounds pretty poor treatment of members with insurance from the C&MC! :(

Since they wouldn't provide cover for my needs, I'm not insured with them. :)

So they are saying that as soon as a flood warning is issued they will remove cover in that area. I think there would be a few complaints to the ombudsman if they refused to pay out.

I do not have insurance with the CAMC and posted this just incase anybody here might be at risk, and this is straight off the CAMC website
Is your caravan stored or located in an area subject to a flood warning or flood alert (issued by the Government via any of its agencies)? If yes, please call us on 01342 488 385 as it may affect your cover.

The “Motorhome” part of the C&MC is a misnomer.

Although, if staying on a C&MC site in winter, motorhomes might even outnumber caravans, the Club still hasn’t fully embraced motorhomes. We found them ridiculously expensive for insurance this year. Made the choice not to insure with them easy.

Gone with Comfort for the first time giving a £350 saving.

It says it applies to members taking out new cover. To me that means it's not applicable to existing policies.

C&MC offer £25 less than any quote, so presumably cheapest.
Phil
Believe that's for new customers only.
They didn't when I was going to renew so went elsewhere.

Been with camping and caravan club for several years. Anyway this year got quote for £389 plus £198 for 3 month's European breakdown cover. Sod that, european cover used to an additional £75......so rang safeguard. £364 including 12months european breakdown no contest. No loyalty from c&cc. I rang them and told them that I had the quote and was told they couldn't match.. Goodbye C&CC.

No loyalty from c&cc.
'Loyalty' benefits with insurers? Cuh, Dream on.
I have to shop around every year when renewing all my insurance policies, except for the m/h which is with Comfort, whose premiums have only increased marginally during the past seven years .
