Just joined Forum as found comments from Mr Fusion on ownership of Carado T132. Comments a couple of years old. Considering buying a T132 and would appreciate any views. Currently have Chausson but disappointed with build quality’

We rented a Chausson last October annd it was an appaling experience. As part of our research to buy our MH, we extensively visited the Carado T 132, 135 and 337. We literally spent hours in each of them.

We found the build quality to be night and day with Chausson. The heritage is good old wood-based Dethleffs with simple furniture that is very well put together. Beds feel a lot like Dethleffs beds, meaning excellent. Contrarily to Chausson, there is not a trace of bling in Carado, it is pretty utilitarian but works very well. Case in point: the vario bathroom. It is an old-ish Dethleffs design that works amazingly well.

We havn't driven one, but in several videos of people testing or using one, they remark that there are no rattles to be heard, which is a marked contrast with what we experienced in a Chausson.

The main reason we are not running and ordering one is the very limited winterization (if such a word exists). The insulation is 25mm expanded polystyrene, exactly like our Dethleffs caravan. Enough for the Truma to keep you warm even in the Alps, but using more gaz. The waste water tank can be isolated but not heated and I have not idea if the water distribution is all inside the van or not. It is not something Carado advertises. So if your plans include winter in the Alps, Carado might not be the best choice, but that is true of anything new at that price.

Have you seen that video:

Stephane thanks for response. Yes seen video but your comments more informative. Chausson Carado comparison useful and matches my current thinking.

Carado is good, but they have a very stiff competitor in Germany: Forster. Only distributed in Germany, so that might be a burden when living in the UK :)

However, consider this:
  • Same budget as Carado
  • Made by Eura-Mobil
  • Totally wood-free construction
  • Fiberglass and extruded polystyrene walls (XPS), roof and floor. Better durability and better insulation
  • Heated waste-water tank available

The Corado's look quite well put together but they are very basic. They use the Fiat Chassis cab rather than the Fiat Camping Car or Al-ko Chassis which gives you loads of ground clearance but won't handle as well.
Why not visit Caravan Salon at Dusseldorf, the last week of August, the largest motorhome show in Europe, buy from Belgium or Germany and save loads of money.
