Looking to buy a car trailer for my Nissan Micra to tow behind my Bessacarr E745.

Where does one get one of these from, any good secondhand sources? What prices new or s/h would you expcet to pay?

Cheers..

Bryan is considering getting an A frame.

Might be worth giving him a PM.

Cheers RR,

I have ruled out the A frame as I want to tow the trailer with the Micra as well... This is to carry my large model aircraft in a removable stowage box. That way I have total flexibility...

Stuey, I think what RR John is getting at is that Bryan (who currently uses a trailer) is considering getting an A frame to use instead

Alternatively, Ebay is a good place to start

Stuey, we have a Brian James trailer - they are arguably one the best vehicle trailer manufacturers about, and you can have a trailer customised to your specification when buying new. Ours wasn't cheap - £1900 ish. You can get them from time to time on ebay from about £800 upwards, plus other good trailers no longer in production like the Carcaddy we sold (ramps facing up didn't fit our space). Just be aware that numerous trailers available are specifically for Smart Cars. Brian James do trailers for all sizes and makes.

Good luck looking.

thanks all.....

Looked at the website for Ifor Williams and they are quoting around £1300 for a 1400kg. Given that my Micra is 1100kg unladen and 1500 laden, would this suffice?

These places tend to quote without adding the VAT in, so do check first.....

We found Ifor Williams disinterested and their lead time to supply was ages. They supply all manner of other trailers too of course, not just car transporters. Brian James on the other hand is a specialist car transporter trailer manufacturer. Having looked carefully at both, we went for the BJ one. We had several extras added, hence the price. It was around the £1100 mark without the extras as I recall.

hi stuart,
not to sure how trailer weights work but might be worth checking if the quoted 1400kg includes the unladen weight of the trailer. if it does you will probably be overweight with the car on.
i have an ifor williams 3500kg but as my pickup weights around 2250kg i cant load it up fully.
it is illegal to tow more than the weight of the towing vehicle.

john.

Hi my 4 year old Brian James trailer broke last year as some of you probably remember, BJ sent me a new part FOC.

Hi Stuart

We are about to go to an A Frame because our new Volvo Estate is too long and just too heavy for our twin axle trailer.

The three year old trailer is rated at two tons of which ½ ton is the trailer so you have a payload of 1½ tons. We used to carry our Rover 25 on it before we went to the Volvo earlier this year.

Call me if you are interested 07967 806064

Hi

As A Guide, I sold a 8 year old 2000kg gross Brian James Twin axle "A" class 13ft bed trailer, on E-Bay Late 2006 for £950-00. The guy who bought it came to yorkshire from wales, was delighted and my Feedback remains at 100%!!!. I am now "A" framing mainly because the size of pitches makes stowage "difficult". But if I cannot find a "toad" with "Automatic" gearbow that will tow wheels down, I could be buying another!!.

And as Olley says their Aftersales is second to none they even freighted a new jocky wheel to laroulett in France, when the ramp on the boat Destroyed mine.!!

Just Be Very Carefull What Your Micra Can Legally Tow, Even If The Trailer Only Has Your Model Plane On Board Vosa Go On The Weight It's Capable Of Carrying On The Trailer Manufacturers Plate. We Have Had To Have Our Three & Half Ton Trailer Down Plated After The Fitters Van Was Stopped By Vosa Even Though Under The Train Weight For A Transit Van The Trailer Was Capable Of Exceeding It. Take Advice First . Regards Tink.
