Does anyone know the overnight charge for motorhomes and do I need change for a machine or is there an office on site to pay at.

If memory serves correctly, it's £3 for 24 hours - and includes bus into Canterbury centre.
The payment machine is next to the bus stop - you can't miss it.
Pub at the entrance that apparently does decent food.

as above..

Typical, isn't it?
Just about the only MH welcoming city in England & we have convenient relatives. :mm:

Machine at bus terminal takes cash and credit.
Pub at entrance is a no for dogs.
Handy stopover for tunnel.

We can vouch for the food in the pub being OK too, and some lovely draught cider.

Graham is correct about the ticket machine.

Thanks for the information the pub is a bonus

Wifey and I drove up there from Dover to give Gerty a little run out. We parked up amonst the foreign vans, all empty, and went into the city on the bus for a wander. Came back had a cuppa, drove home. Day out mileage 28 miles cost less fuel £3. They are doing it right as the other people had gone into town an spent some money there. Win Win situation. Pity I cannot persuade Dover Council to do the same.

So cross the border and come to sunny Powys where I pay council tax, every town has at least one MHome friendly overnight car park. Come quick CW we want your money!:D

We stayed at the Canterbury P&R in September, ideal place to park up while you wait to head to tunnel. The bus terminal and pay machine are just a few yards away and as an added bonus, Canterbury is a great city to visit.

We wanted to use it last October but was told the barrier closes at 8.00pm, couldnt get there before 10.00pm so had to give it a miss, shame as handy for tunnel.

According to the Council website no entry after 20.30 but you can leave any time. Details Link Removed

CW, it's the detail and local knowledge that might be of more use to you... eg. top end of Crickhowell car park is on a slope and no levellers known to man/womankind will assist! Also on Friday/Saturday nights full of boy racers and other twits. The Brecon parks are good particularly the one down the prom. Any night in Feb and you'll have it to yourselves. Hay is good and I think the toilets are open 24/7 though that may only be in the summer months.
Anything else local I will help if I can.(y)

It wasn't as empty as that when I was there in September. I had a dozen members of our French club with us. All of them enjoyed their first experience of an aire in the UK.

you can't get in on a sunday but you can get out

Now open Sundays 9:00 am - 8:30pm, but it didn't used to be.

If you arrive too late to get in, have a word with the manager of the nearby pub - we've overnighted in his car park, on condition we bought food there.

Another alternative is the large set back lay-by along the A2 in the direction of Dover, beside Kent Motorcycles (51.193642, 1.185807). Popular with truckers so it's unlikely you'd be out there on your own. We've stopped there too.

Park and ride is very good at Canterbury people very helpful would use it again

We have no specific plans, we'll be "ambling", but will call on your knowledge & experience if needed, thank you.
