So i got R5 last week and looking forward to getting out with it I also got the 24-105mm 70-200mm and should have the 100-500mm tomorrow. Away up the East coast (Scot) Wed for a few days so hope weather is good.

I can't wait to hear how you get on with it, especially with the 100-500mm lens.

Mine is on order with Park, I offered to part ex my 1DXmk2 so they could earn a little on that too but hasn’t made any difference, still waiting. I may keep hold of the 1DX2 for a few months until I am happy with the R5.

Essential travel only!!!!!
I'll say this only once = Level 1 and Level 2 areas, that means, if you live in a low risk area in Scotland you could go away for a trip.

Otter Spotter
I traded in all my old EF lenses and my 5D iv and got the RF 24-105mm and the 70-200mm and cash with MPB.

Just sold my 100-400mm mk 2 to MPB and they will get first dibs on the 1DX as they offered another £240 more than Park.
what do you point your lenses at then?

Luck b*gger living in Scotland whilst we are all mostly locked down fro Thursday.Post some good shot to make us all envious.

Mostly landscape and wildlife been to Mull a few times after otters try and do a red deer 🦌
Similar to me then though it’s more Wildlife then the occasional landscape, Shetland is great for Otters, Outer Hebrides is harder as there are so many lochans but the scenery there is amazing.
Jura is the place for Deer, but it’s wild and unpredictable.

Otters are my favourite subjects, and Hares. I wish I didn't have to work so I could spend more time photographing them.

I love Otters hence the Moniker, I have spent years following Otters and photographing them since seeing my first one on Mull in the 90’s near Toransay Castle. The idea was that after retirement earlier this year we would head up to the Outer Hebrides for landscape photography then over to Shetland for the Otters, but we all know why that grand plan has been shelved.
looks as though it’s going to be next spring before we will go if permitted.
I love your avatar where was that taken? Looks like a youngster

Very nice, I have been out with Neil some time ago.
If you get up to Shetland you must try and book Brydon Thomason at Shetland Nature, he is that good he knows when and where the Otters have farted 🤪
also take a look at Alan McFadyen at Scottish photography hides, for hide work and workshops. He is based in Kirkcubright in Dumfries and Galloway. He has some really good hides for all sorts.
I will try and post some shots

canon R5 ordered for delivery Friday from UK Camera Club, order cancelled at Park, they haven’t bothered to keep me posted as to when I can expect my order, so they have lost out.
Thanks for the heads up bilM

Thank you, that one was at Croggan (Mull). Hopefully I'll be heading to somewhere in Scotland next spring/summer too. I've really missed not being there this year.

Fantastic photos, especially the middle one.

R5 arrived but cannot use it as the battery charger needs an adaptor so that’s coming on Tuesday. It is much smaller and lighter than the 1DX2 which is great. May have to swap a couple of lenses but will try my existing ones first.

R5 up and running and I have spent a morning setting it up for wildlife photograph, now apart from garden cannot get near any wildlife 😈
I am now thinking I will sell my Sigma 150-600 sport and Canon 70-300mm lenses and buy the new Canon RF 100-500mm telephoto. The weight saving will make it easier for me to get out and about.

Hopefully you'll get lucky with some garden wildlife soon. Please post some photos.

The only Canon lens I kept when I moved to Sony was the 70-300l. It's a gem of a lens, especially for taking in the van when travelling light. Works pretty quickly on MC11 adapter.

Agreed I love it but the 100-500mm will be more versatile and quicker and not much heavier and I think with it married to the R5 I think the results will be better.
