Hi all yesterday had a new cambelt fitted, got the van home put it in reverse heard a whiring sound from the clutch and reverse gear needed more pressure to get in, all other gears ok. Is it related to having the cambelt fitted? Would that part of the engine be touched? I have never had this experience with any of my other vans. I am no mechanic but know the sounds and the feels of my vans. Before I take it back to the garage I would like to be a little bit more wiser by your technical thoughts. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like the clutch bearing making a noise and not fully releasing. And no belt work isn't anywhere near it

Chickie We live in Nouvelle Acquitaine and ours needs changing, did you go main dealer or local garage? and how much did you pay??:eek:

Hi wjacc. I had lots of devis all about the same amount 730€ small garages, tyre place had mine done at a peugeot main agent. ( I know you lot who live in UK will have a fit at that cost but that's living in France) The concessionaire fiat agent who we bought the van from wanted around 1000€. Good luck.

Is it a clutch cable on your model? Have they pushed it out the way and not put it back?

I thought the clutch pedal/ cable was behind the cam belt housing. Or is this left hand drive.
