For health reasons we have decided to stop our travelling in the EU and stay in the UK. We have had a particular liking for aires and other stops near canals. lakes and other waterways and I expect others might too so I have started this thread in the hope that fellow motorhomes might mention places that fit the bill either for overnight stops (including pubs etc) or longer stays.

I will start the ball rolling with.. The Maltster's, Ranworth NR136AB. 52.7776/1.48896. A pleasant pub on the bank of Ranworth broad Norfiok, they allow motorhomes to stop in a very large carpark overnight free if having drinks or a meal. The food is decent pub grub at sensible prices, there is outside seating with nice view of he broad and the boats.

we stayed in a canal side pub in rugby a couple of years back but cant remeber details on a hill side overlooking the cement works

We have stayed on a couple of Temporary Holiday Sites at these to places. Both are next to Canals.

Westmorland Showground, Crooklands, Kendal.
54°14'43.2"N 2°43'32.6"W 54.245331, -2.725731

Lyme View Marina, Adlington, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK10 4PH
53°19'52.9"N 2°05'38.4"W 53.331353, -2.093986

There is a site right on the canal near to the Crooklands Showground called
Little Acre Holiday Park, Milton Ln, Crooklands, Milnthorpe LA7 7NN
54°14'43.8"N 2°43'01.5"W 54.245491, -2.717089

There is also the Falkirk Wheel where you are allowed to overnight right next to the canal.

Also the C&CC site at Derwentwater, Keswick (if you can get booked) is right next to the lake .
