This is our third trip out and we are loving it.

It’s been raining tonight and we are going home tomorrow so I kept the awning stored away and bbqed in the rain, as we Are going home tomorrow and awning wont get a chance to dry out before we head home. Am I right to be concerned about it rotting or would it be fine for about three weeks until our next trip?

Any advice, gratefully received.

Might go a bit mouldy after 3 weeks, best to hang it out when you get home. (y)

I'd hang it on the washing line when back home, it will go mouldy and smell in its bag.

Never dried any of ours, always been fine. It is the roll away type though.

Yes its a roll away one connected to the side of the van, so no hanging on a washing line and when i get home there isn’t any space to open it to let it dry. Tonight I got wet and the awning stayed stored away and dry. I just want to know if next time I need to be out in the rain or can use the awning on our last night if it is wet.

Really wants to be dry when you roll it a way, I've seen some in a right state that have been put away wet. A new canvas is expensive £400 for a 4m one and thats just the fabric.

Ah, you have a canopy. I'd still try to dry it out when you get home.

I wouldn't risk storing it wet. I would have done the same as you and put it away but then we are pretty careful to also never leave it out when we're not there and put it away as soon as the wind starts to pick up

Thanks. That is what I though but just wanted to be sure.

We've rolled ours away wet on occasion and not had a chance to dry it out for a couple of weeks. It hasn't done any damage although it would be good to give it a good wash and let dry properly when you get the chance. The fabric and stitching should be okay as they are (usually) some sort of plastic/nylon material.
Noticed ours was looking a bit scruffy at Peterborough last week so will give it a clean before our next trip.

You can use wet and forget which will stop any mildew growth or kill any that you have on it.

I've used it on the roof and it works a treat

We don’t have a place to unroll our canopy on the drive.

We parked on a lovely pitch at Chatsworth House CAMC but we did get quite a lot of tree sap.
There was a concern about storing the canopy but we had a trip coming up so took cleaning gear for that trip.

As it happened we had a storm on the latter trip that did the job for us.
We did have to slowly roll out a sticky awning so without the storm we would’ve needed to clean the canopy while on the trip.

tl;dr buy a house with a bigger drive 👀 That’s the top requirement for our next home
