Catching 10am ferry on Saterday, can I stay on the
port overnight on Friday to save the early morning St Malo traffic?

The St Malo port guide which can be found on the Brittany Ferries website says this:

"For early morning sailings, you can park your caravan or motorhome overnight in the vehicle check-in lanes. Your vehicle is parked at your own risk and should not be left unattended. No port facilities are open overnight.

You will need to be ready to check in at 07:30 and there is no access to toilet facilities from 21:00 to 06:00. Motorhomes will be asked to park with freight vehicles"

Is that the same for Portsmouth to Caen
As getting the 8.15 on Sunday morning.??

No.... in P/mouth, you can park up along the fence at the back of the waiting area, but not until the last ferry has left, then you can awaken and be checked in as the kiosks open !!!.... not sure about facilities, but, guess they will be closed as the terminal will close with the last ferry out.

Caught the ferry from St Malo on Saturday morning. On the way in there were a few Motorhomes scattered along the side roads that had obviously been there for the night. Dart’s suggestion seems a better option.

I'm sure there's an aire which is close enough to walk into town,

Dart’s suggestion is possible but usually there is refrigerated lorry/ies there waiting too and very noisy all night and the port speaker makes announcements throughout night. The best and nearest place to stay night is after you have taken turning after roundabout to go into port take the left slip road which takes you to parking pier overlooking St Servan which allows Motorhomes after 8pm until morning.

Thanks everyone. Parked at the aire at Paul Feval about 2 km frome the port. Loads of room and a twin service point just outside the entrance. Free water, gray and black waist. Bus services to old ST Malo run from 0900 till 2200 and included in the price of the site. 10 min walk to a Lidl. Will attach a useful map of all parking in the area if I can get the tech sorted! Hope this helps other member using St Malo.
