... If it's cancelled due to bad weather? If it's that bad I don't want to take the shorter trip to Caen or whatever, I'd sooner take the tunnel. Those I know who have had this happen did seem to have been treated unsympathetically with alternative arrangements. I'm not too keen on ferries, earlier this year the outward trip was terrible up to the Bay of Biscay, very uncomfortable trying to sleep but in the morning the Bay was like a mill pond and very beautiful. But didn't like the first half and it took 20 plus hours.

Don't know the actual answer but surely;

It's like ordering a lb. (ask yer Mum) of carrots and they deliver brussel sprouts.
Yes, they're both veg. but they're not the same

Why not just stick to the tunnel especially in winter the odds must be against 2calm crossings

This is from their T & Cs. So it says full refund if sailing cancelled

Where a sailing is delayed for more than 90 minutes or cancelled we will provide you the choice of either, a specific re-routing option to your final destination as set out in your transport contract at the earliest opportunity at no additional charge; or re-imbursement of the price that was paid for transport contract within 7 days.

Our ferry from santander to Portsmouth was cancelled in march we had the option full refund or rerouted to st malo a week later, they gave us £150 travelling money and nearly £250 refund. Cant really say it was worth it because it cost more than £150 in fuel and tolls

That's very interesting, it might sway my choice, thanks. Are you the Annie on WC? Not the WC, as it were.

We came across on fri 13 dec and it was blinking rough. Not sure it should of sailed to be honest. We are back on the 4 jan 2020 sailing but if that gets cancelled i will pull an all nighter driving to the tunnel and get a refund as work on the 6 Jan so have to be back one way or another.

This is where being a Brittany Ferries Voyage member comes in as we have a box to tick when making a booking which makes sure you have a good crossing.
On the Portsmouth to Santander sailing this coming Friday and sure enough it is looking okay.:xcool:

Probably not as I don’t know what WC is :xsurprised:

I looked the other week.everything up to noe was in the middle of the night & 3 x ferry price. The odd ones during the day were 6x ferry.
I crossed channel on the 12th as forecast was the best. 13th & on was horrendous.
Down past Bordeaux the wind off the bay of Biscay was around 160km/h so the ferry across would have been rough.

Not as a Frequent Traveller, much cheaper. Plus I've still got some Tesco vouchers. I think I'll go for that.

If this was your company and you'd filled all the spaces then someone cancelled because the sea state was not quite to their liking but you are obviously sailing because that is what your company does..........I'm sure you wouldn't be saying, "oh, that's ok, don't you worry, I'll send your money back to you"...........would you????????

But the op says its been a problem before so why book it again in mid winter!! Different if its a last minute booking but it seems daft to me to have a bad experience rebook it then worry about it being bad again.

I was just weighing up the options, it's a long drive, it could be snowing inland, etc. As against that it could be flat like it was in the Bay of Biscay. What I didn't want was to be put on a rough shorter crossing, hence wondering would they give a full refund without messing me about. Subsequent discussion has more or less made up my mind to drive. But thanks for replies.

Not sure how this fits into my posting but, hey, whatever.

WE had to cancel our trip with BF due to Stephanie needing a pacemaker

They have given us a credit note valid for 2 years for the entire deposit amount

BUT if you already have travel insurance you could make a claim on that
