not long enough
Next week we will have been married for 44 years 🙂 pre Covid we would be on our way through France but haven’t been back since

Talking to Bev about options for a trip away we agreed not overseas yet, initial thoughts were mid Wales, then I suggested going north, we have had some great trips to Scotland 👍

While away we could visit a truly favourite place for us, the very top of the Findhorn valley

Bev was really pleased, so off we go setting off next Wednesday , planning on being at our wild camping spot for Friday and Saturday nights, our anniversary is Friday 👍

I will send photos as we go

Was at Findhorn area backend of last October
Having some fab weather just now across here in the west, same northern-ness, hope it stays good for you (not that you mind being snowed in as I recall!)

I’m intrigued David.… you haven’t been abroad since Covid Or you haven’t been abroad because of Covid…🤔

Not really sure quite why, we just haven’t crossed back over since Covid, last trip abroad was 2019

Autumn this year Spain and Portugal , Bev will at least be semi if not fully retired by then at last 🙂👍

Just thinking back ... I was living in Cornwall when you & Lola did your winter trip, I'm now based in Skye

Remember the trip very well, January 2015

I won’t be repeating that trip , the snow was bad the storm force winds a lot worse than I predicted 😳 local coastguard station had to be evacuated , but this was Durness much further north

Ah, well it will be a great trip when you both can take your time and not thinking about work…😎

And congratulations on your forthcoming anniversary…💝🍻

Have a great trip David and Bev and Happy Anniversary when it arrives, we should be spending ours on a overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound NZ (hope the boat doesn’t rattle 😏)

We set off this morning , arrived at a new favourite free stop over at Alnwick

View attachment 1012353

Not the nicest of views , but free and a 5 min walk to shops and pubs 😁

Pretty much halfway to our valentine stop over , Perth tomorrow
You do realise that by the time you get to Findhorn there'll be around 300 or so Funster vans there already waiting to see the van rocking!:whistle2:

Disappointed now… I thought your post was a sexual innuendo…. 🤪
One is definitely on their way!(y)
Enjoy your trip, look forward to the photos.
and one is definitely got other plans as they're looking for photos of the event!:giggler:

That looks like an excellent spot. 8 miles of single track then an unsurfaced track past the wood to the river. Is it much used and do you have to make arrangements with the farm?

Amazingly we have only shared it once in about 10 visits, apart from people we have taken with us 👍

It is a public area, I think the hard standing is for shoot parking maybe, but we have regularly chatting with game keeper type chap on his quad, they have no problem with occasional use , there are a few day visitors, mostly walking but we had parascenders last year

I did suggest they could put a sign up asking for donations but they haven’t so far. I do worry we might arrive and find a no parking sign, I am always surprised it has never got to S4S

Findhorn brings back memories.

Many years ago in a previous life, we were tasked with building a small suspension footbridge over the Findhorn for competitors to run over whilst competing in the World Orienteering Championships.
Whilst building it, two people would guard the equipment overnight. I remember spending most of my evenings throwing thunder flashes into the water in an attempt to catch salmon 🙃
I wonder if the bridge is still there?

Terry

Are we there yet ? 😁

Nope, last night with phone and internet connection for a few days starting tomorrow

Today I looked at stop overs around Loch Leven, mostly RSPB owned and I think they charge everybody to park, but £15 to overnight with absolutely no services is rude

So we have come on to

They allow motorhomes to overnight and serve some very decent food up to 8pm, with breakfast starting at 8am

We will do both 🙂👍

It’s by the A9 which you can hear but have slept here a few times, traffic overnight is light enough not to matter

Already got snow on hill tops , hoping for a bit more yet, not too much though please Bev gets nervous 🙂

Taste Perthshire is a good stopover. We even call in for lunch and treats on our way north.

Our dinner with a couple of beers came to £36.10, good value and we had good service , I said to put the change in their tip pot, girl replied ‘all of it?’ I said ‘is it not enough?’ She said ‘plenty it’s just more than we normally get’, 🤔😳 you Scots living up to your reputation 🤣

I think if I’d given her £36.50 I might have let her keep the change 😂😂😂

happy anniversary hope your having a lovely time.
