I am seeking help with finding a good campsite.
We have been invited to meet up with family who are going to the Monaco Grand Prix in May this year. They are staying in an hotel and we intend to take the Campervan moving on elsewhere after the weekend.
Has anyone visited the Grandprix whilst staying in a motorhome, How did you get on with moving around as I imagine the roads will be terribly busy.
I have been trying to find a good campsite not too far away with the ideal of using the train to get to Monaco over the race days. I have found sites near Nice that don't look particularly good but are only 3/4 hour by train to Monaco, There seem to be plenty out near Port Grimaud but they are a very long train ride away.
Does anyone have experience of campsites in the other direction (EAST) from Monaco.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated as I guess I will need to make site bookings asap
Thank you
Will also be taking Dog

We stopped here in September
Very nice, owner took you to the train station and picked you back up.
Train to Monaco was €24 return for 4 adults. It’s about 30 mins journey on the train, 10 mins drive from the campsite.
I’d book though with the F1 circus in town...

Unfortunately there aren't many sites along that coast, as the mountains almost done down to the sea. So anywhere close that offers transport in and out would be good.

You would definitely need the transport to be by train. There's one coast road and its chocker, both ways, for most of the day and early evening.

We stayed in Les Mures which is a lovely site, almost equidistant between St Maxime and St Tropez - still a long way from Monaco though.

I’d definitely agree train is the way in on GP weekend. You may be better off finding somewhere to the west of Cannes, which is even further away because the nearer you get to Monaco the less chance you have of actually getting on a train. From Nice you’ll have almost no chance of getting aboard.

Best way to describe it is Japanese Underground, where the attendants poke you on with a stick.

I’ve used the line from Antibes many times, my sister used to live there, and whenever the GP, Historic Gp or Formula E are on all hell breaks loose.

But you’ll love it, the whole weekend is very special, if somewhat expensive for souvenirs of the day (think I paid £80 for a shirt.....bought mainly because I’d under dressed and was cold!)

We stayed in Cannes (Camping Parc Bellevue). Bus to the station and then the train to Monaco - though not for the Grand Prix. Easy journey, hope this helps?

Easiest by far is to find a campsite then hire a car. Drive into Monaco. Loads of parking even on race day.

HI we have stayed in Cagnes sur mere I think the site was Val Flurrie ? lovely site lovely people. A bue into the town 5mins then a short walk to the station and train into Monaco about 12 euro return per person

Free aire in Monton at the old border post, train station about twenty yards up the road, that will take you to Monaco or ventimiglia the other way.

We went through it last September, full of armed border police. No way I’d leave the van there

If you contact Nice Harbour they will let you park up for 20 euros a night, I know thats expensive for a car park. Your paying for location plus the security as they parked me under their CCTV and security guards work 24/7

Thank you everyone for your replies and recommendations
Mr B I looked at the Por la Mar site near Ventimiglia which seems idea dog friendly all facilities we require including a minibus to Monaco or Menton station.
I have emailed them with our requirements so fingers crossed they will have space
Thank you again all thread contributors.
