3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
We are touring Spain at the mo. Our daughter is coming to visit, flying into Malaga.

We are looking for a campsite for 5 night Inc. all services EHU, showers etc) and reasonably nice vibe. Not to far from a beach. Also room for a small tent as she will be sleeping outside the van! So a good size pitch....not car park style.

Anywhere in Malaga area. Happy to travel an hour north or south of the airport.

Suggestions gratefully received(y)

Camping fuengirola..
There is a train direct from the airport (cheap as well) and it stops a short walk away.
Bus stop outside in case you want to hop into Malaga itself. Beach and town not far away. It was 2014 when we last stayed but can't see much changing.

Camping Almayate Costa is about 30 miles east of Malaga Airport.
Nice level site with a pedestrian gate right on to the beach. Reasonable sized pitches.
Short walk into Almayate village with supermarket, bars and restaurant. Only downside is its along the N340 but room to walk off the road. Couple of chirenguitos on the beach
Bus right outside the gate to Torre del Mar, Rincon la Victoria or Malaga.

There are two at Torre del Mar. Right on the beach, and right on the edge of town. It’s a very Spanish town, you won’t find much sky sports and karaoke, just plenty of Spanishness😎
( I used to live there 😉

The two sites at Torre de mar are very basic but great town. If it’s just a family get together and you want to sit chat relax and walk you cannot go wrong with camping Capapino. There has been a lot of investment on the site and a great beach bar across the road. Small port with a few other eating drinking stops. Also if you were liking fir a day out it’s about an hour to blast down to Gibraltar

That sounds my kind of Spain!

Just an aside.
Free camping at La Cala. I checked this out a couple of weeks ago and yes it’s free but it’s a dirty dusty car park. Our hire car was so covered in dust within an hour when we went to the market that we had to wash it. Some people actually stay here. Must be mad or desperate.

Just over an hour and a cheap car hire place in the port

I've stayed at a couple of really nice, well equipped campsites that have been dusty. Comes with the territory in Spain (or other rain starved countries) sometimes.

Camping Jarales at Calahonda. Camping Cabopino at Cabopino probably better. 40 mins from airport towards Marbella.

Been looking at Cabopino. I think this is a good balance of price against quality/location. Thanks.

Not sure if you know, it's an ACSI discount scheme site - €20 with hook-up at the moment I believe.

Thanks for all those suggestions guys. If it was just me and the wife I'd probably go for Torre del Mar but as the daughter is coming (and will be sleeping in a tent!) we've decided to go for Cobapina which seems slightly more (struggling for a word here) civilised/comfortable/luxurious??? (no that's not what I mean! )and a reasonable price at 20 euros a night.

Yes - actually found it on ACSI initially.

We had a house 10 mins walk from Cabopino campsite. Beach is 10 mins walk. Bus stop outside to either Marbella or Malaga directions. Make sure you go to Ronda, Mijas, and some local pueblos blancos.
