Just mapping out our journey from Amsterdam to Slovenia starting at the end of March. So far we've decided on Aachen, Bingen or Rudesheim and Salzburg. We want to get to Slovenia fairly quickly so we will use motorways more than we usually do so we do actually get there. Last year we spent so much time messing around in France and Southern Spain that we didn't get to where we really wanted to go i.e Cadiz and Portugal.
We like places where we can stop for a couple of days so near somewhere interesting, small village or town etc.
Thanks.
Steph

Campingplatz Rhein Mosel
Schartwiesenweg 6
56070
Koblenz Am Rhein

It’s not cheap to camp there but it’s in a great position by Deutsches Eck (German Corner) where the Mosel river meets the mighty Rhine. It was amazing watching huge cargo vessels navigate around the Corner. We were pitched opposite the monument to Kaiser Wilhelm I (Emperor William), which was on the other side of the river. That's the Kaiser sitting on top of our MH!

You can, if you prefer, park at the aire directly outside the campsite perimeter. It's quite a bit cheaper.

Don't know if you've got anything sorted for Salzburg yet but we've used Camping Nord-Sam and it did the job nicely. Access to the town centre by riverside bike paths or bus. Interesting place.

Thanks for both suggestions. I think the Mosel/Rhine is nearer to Bingen than we want - but maybe not. Any other suggestions would be greatefully received
We hadn't sorted Salzburg yet so thats a great idea.
Any more anyone - maybe for going on from Salzburg to Slovenia as well?

Which Bingen do you mean , the one on the Rhine or the one South of Stuttgart ?

I didn't know there were two so its the one on the Rhine. Thanks.

This might suit you its about 5 mile off the A8 J67 , its nice site with friendly operators stayed there 1 night couple of years back
its between Ulm and Augsburg :)

ps if you are going to Salzburg don't miss Berchtesgaden , and "The Eagles Nest" (Kehlsteinhaus ) (y)

Just check Koblenz site is open.
I was there a week ago and it very much was not.
All the buildings have been placed up on iron girder stilts -about 3m off the ground. They clearly had a BIG flood a few weeks ago.
Not sure how the buildings will be accessed - presumably by external stairs. But it looks definitely not disabled friendly to me.
