Looking for recommendations please

We are planning a trip to Rome in our Motorhome in late Feb 22.

We have tickets for the England v Italy six nations rugby match and thought “why not make it an extended trip in the Motorhome “

So we intend to take a steady drive over a week or so to get there , then stay in Rome for a week or so , then drive back over a week or so …

Anyone stayed in a decent campsite in or near Rome , that will be open in February ? I’m aiming to book the Rome campsite in advance but play the journey to and from by ear.

We have a fully winterised Dethleffs with winter tyres and snow chains ( if needed ) but will also try and plan a route that avoids all high mountain passes etc.

So any suggestions on a winter route to Italy also much appreciated.

Many thanks
Russ

Hi we stayed at Roma camping in town 35 Euro a night early October this year. Easy to get to from the A90 ringroad. Very good well organised campsite with all you need. Bus 246 from outside the gate to the Metro station Cornelia and onto the city or bus 247 to the Vatican. We went Dover to Calais, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, national road though France to Modane and Mont Cenis over the top of Frejus tunnel into Italy. But in February would probably be snowed up. Good route from Luxembourg head to Switzerland Saint Louis / Basel transit Swiss to Como Italy.

That’s really helpful. Thankyou.
