I picked up my first camper van on Monday 16th May 2022
Hello, I have a conversion by Wheelhome where the bed is made up from the front two seats and the two rear seats, with the cooking and storage are at the rear. The van is generally very well put together. However, the bad is very faffy to put together and I feel it could also be more comfortable to sleep on. It is a bit of a jigsaw arrangement made up from a range of cushions so can be a bit lumpy. So, my questions are:

1. Would anyone know if it would be possible to have that part of the van converted to, say, a rock and roll bed.
2. I live on the Yorkshire coast near Scarborough, so, if this can be done, a recommend in that area would be even better.

As ever this site is full of extremely helpful like minded people, so many thanks in advance for any advice.

You could try 2 single air beds under inflated to make the beds more comfortable.

You could use ikea bed slats under a mattress cushions. We use a single set and stretch them over our front seats under a standard mattress. Folds down small to store.

Thanks for those - they are good ideas. The conversion I have from Wheelhome is called a 'Panache'.. and one of the features is that, to make the double bed, you have an extra cushion piece that slots in between the back seat cushions, as shown in the picture, to bridge that gap.. We have found that this fits on such a small lip on the two seat cushions that it falls through on to the floor, the rest of the night's sleep is then uncomfortable!!!... At the front you turn the two big cushions 90 degrees from shown in the picture to create the double.. all a bit convoluted.. Wonder if anyone has a similar Panache conversion.. other than this issue, it is really well put together and am very happy with it.. Thanks again for advice given!!

I’m sure that someone could come up with a better solution to the bed making up than you have at the moment. You could maybe use a double set of bed slats which would bridge the whole lot? . Wissel might have some good ideas.
