An elderly couple have been taken to hospital after their camper van was hit by a train in Cambridgeshire.
The pair - understood to be husband and wife - were rescued after they were trapped following the crash near a level crossing.
Crews called to the scene were forced to free the pair, who were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.
The woman, who was trapped for some time, suffered head and chest injuries, while the man, said to be in his 70s, was less seriously wounded.
Fewer than than 40 people were on the train and no passengers are believed to have been hurt in the collision. It is unclear how the vehicle came to be on the tracks in Littleport, Ely, when the crash happened earlier on Tuesday.
"The ambulance service was called to the scene following reports a vehicle was on the track and in collision with a train," a spokesman for East of England Ambulance Service said. Link Removed
