What is an awning, a wind out canopy ie Thule/Fiamma or a fully pegged out safari type room?

Why I am asking is does the normal wind out awning (only) mean you have to pay for a pitch with awning ?

Gerry77 If your asking because of pinch selection, I.e. awning or non awning pitch, I have once upon a time confirmed their position on this with the wardens. A normal Motorhome wind our canopy is not an awning and you can wind it out on a non awning pitch but must only have it out whilst you are present and take it in at night.

And a definite no from me too Gerry77 .

Some tuggers object to Motorhomers occupying a with awning space and then not erecting one.
Just as I object to a tiny car + caravan or MH, occupying a long hardstanding pitch, which I am unable to pre book due to the size and weight of our MH, but at the end of the day, we all pay (or used to in our case), the same membership fees. 🤷‍♂️

But the Cub doesn't care
You are not wrong there Stephen, especially the CAMC, hence our departure from it.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

We once booked a non awning pitch to ‘be fair to others’ as we didn’t plan on using ours

This particular site only had 4 non awning pitches , still the same price as a full size pitch but barely big enough for us to fit on

They wouldn’t let me swap because I had booked non awning 🤔🤬 there were 20 odd empty normal places , things got a bit heated in the office before they backed down

Think caravan awning. They charge extra for them and with good reason. I've actually banned them, I don't know what caravanners do in their awnings, but whatever it is, it kills the grass in a week
They put down impervious groundsheets depriving the grass of light and air!

I had the same problem at Coniston trying "to be fair", fortunately they let me move to an awning pitch without any fuss.

We are currently in the Netherlands and many caravans have a large awning with an equally large canopy added to the front extending 5-6m out from the caravan. It seems to be the norm over here. CMHC would have a fit :ROFLMAO:

We have a lightweight inflatable drive away awning but we never use a groundsheet. When we leave a pitch you can barely see where it has been.

Thanks for all your responses. I now know what to book in future.
Strange really as I did a season many years ago as an assistant warden for C&CC but we were never as regimented in those days. There were no hardstandings just grass and hedges!

We were at Lyndon Top a few weeks ago.

There was a couple in a big caravan. The awning started a couple of meters from the front of the van, continued all the way down the side, then left-turned and covered the whole of the back!!

Must have nearly tripled their living space, there was only them and two little dogs!
