When the Calor Lite cylinders were withdrawn by Calor, there was the promise of a new product for caravanners and motorhomes (unquote). Anybody heard when this new product will be launched? Or was it all a myth?
Please don’t fill the posts with “we’ve got Gasit” this, or Allugas that, or “underslung tanks that only costs 4pence three farthings to fill” :D2:D2
I just want to know about the lighter pre-filled cylinders.

Calor Lite are still available but numbers are diminishing, as those which do not pass inspection when returned are being scrapped, we get ours from a main distributor who seems to have plenty.
We have 3 bottles so always have 2 in van and one either empty or full at home ready to swap over.
Hope you find a supplier soon, they are out there.
Joe

We have a full lite that we use as a spare in case there is not a flo gas place near if we run out. Usually have the flo gas delivered to our home when we have an empty bottle.

You could look for BP lite bottles they look similar to the calor - unless you specifically want calor ones

Calor told me the bottles arnt robust enough they were stopping them but no new bottles in the pipeline.

Our local supplier always seems to have some. Swapped out a couple a few weeks back. :gum:

Our local agent seems to have plenty (will find out for sure when I go for a refill next week!)

Got one at local Gooutdoors recently - they didn’t seem to think there was an issue tho other suppliers have said same as Tude

Have you ever noticed how a dog running off to chase a bird or rabbit that disappears before it gets there just pretends it was running towards an interesting smell or tree instead. I think Calor has done just that. All the early releases about withdrawing Calor Lite on safety grounds are now ignored, following the outcry of customers deserting to other sources. Suddenly they had never intended to force everyone back to heavy cylinders before introducing a new lightweight product that we would have to pay again for. Naughty Calor! Sit, behave, don’t do that again! We know exactly what you were trying to get away with.

Calor Gas depot at Westwood in Peterborough has plenty of lites. Swapped one recently.

Calor Lite Q&A

Q: When will a new cylinder be available?
A: As research is still ongoing, it is too early to provide any definite timescales but you can be assured as soon as we have something which is suitable for the market and which has the approval of our customers then it will be brought to market. In the meantime, we will provide regular updates to keep our customers informed on progress.

We can also confirm that all existing 6kg Lite customers* will be able to swap to the new cylinder, when it is launched, completely free of charge.

Which is a welcome but complete change of position from their original announcements when they were only offering scrap value or exchange to steel cylinders.

*On production of the original contract or receipt or proof of purchase. Tough if you bought the cylinders secondhand

I was told today by a dealer all lite bottles will cease in 18 months, and only the heavier bottles will be available so don'get stuck with a lite weight bottle.

We have BP tank and get the refills from Flogas. Ten pounds cheaper than at Homebase.

Are these self refillable or exchange bottles?
Exchange bottles. BP Gas light. You need a different attachment to Calor but it allows us to carry more gas, when weight was more of an issue for us.

I have a Gasit 6 kg and also as a back up a s/hand Calorlite -about half full (filled myself from Calor bottle) only used if no refill about.

No problems getting them in Aberdeen, and no mention of phase out.

Just purchased a 13kg from local dealer who has 22 6kg lite in stock. Told them I thought discontinued. Was advised that was the plan as told by calor but they can still get them. Good news for me as ran out of 13kg at weekend and had to use my 6kg lite which is my back up. My 6kg lite is now down to 50% so now I know can be one gonna run it to empty then swop it out for a new one.
I only keep it as back up as more cost effective to keep using the 13kg one (cheaper to swop out for a new one)

Tried to get one from my local dealer in Swansea and he was expecting a delivery but, when it arrived on Thursday 10th Jan, there were no "lite" bottles to be had. I will rind him later this week to check for stock

Where in Aberdeen out of childish curiosity.
Calor at Dyce and Dyce Caravans (y) Maybe lucky the last couple of years (y) exchanged 1 x calor lite and 1 standard for 2 x calor lite just before Christmas. Had 1 calor lite left over from last year when I swapped a 7kg butane for it. I now have 3 x full 6kg calor lite bottles. That will last me for a couple of years (y)

That’s 3 days supply for us ;)(y)

Got my Calor light in Swansea today - they had a delivery late last week. Confirmed that the plan is still to withdraw current bottles but, as many pass the refil test, Calor will continue to use for the time being.

I have just changed my van and it came with a 6kg calorlite, as I am fitting my gaslow, it is free to anyone who wants it, collection only from Leicestershire.
