this might seem strange but is the gross wt of the nissan up rated or just the train wt. if the nissan stays at 3,500kgyou will be driving it on a b+e licence. only the train of the towing unit restricts the wt there is no regulated wt.

I f Calder replateing is the same as The 5th Wheel Company -
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Max Front Axle Weight 1470k* - Unchanged
Max Rear Axle Weight 2000k* - up from 1750k so
Gross Vehicle Weight 3470k - up from 3210k
Payload 1336k - up from 1075k
Max Train Weight 6500k* - up from 5810k
------------------------------------------------
*= Figures on 5th Wheel Co. Plate as put on vehicle

+/- 10k in the figures I think is difference between Manual/ Auto Navaras

Alan,
Was the hitch put on by Calder? If so they definately mount it to the chassis via brackets at 4 points plus 4 more via the truck bed. BTW mines an Auto so no problems at low speed turning etc. and the Navara when chipped is man enough for my set up.

so its as i said .its under 3,500 kg you only need a b+e licence .c1+e is for tow unit to be over 3,500. c1+e is restsricted to 8.250kg. b+e is only restricted by the train of the tow unit. i believe if later you were to loose the c bit you could keep driving this size of rig as in over 70 yr old etc its all interesting .thanks alan.

Rex,
There are lots of sites that will recommend various chips for various models. Navara Net UK is a good start but you have to register (free). Some of the cheap (£100) ones on e-bay apparently just chuck extra fuel on demand. A good one matched to your car will give better mpg and more power when needed.
I just looked for a local tuning garage and had it done there, £350 in vat.
Calder also recomend some, Alex favours a German one that fits to each injector and he reckons is the most powerful. Give him a call.

I was looking at those on the riversway site circa £99 for the piece of plastic and you also need to buy some roofbars to fit it on
