Hi All,

We've been away a while and this may be 'Old News' but I've just seen a report on SKY.

It would seem that the Jungle at Calais is still clear of persons intent on Immigration.

The scenes shown were of a huge empty space with no one living there. The News article did show a reporter finding three youngsters dodging the Police and still intent on getting to the UK.

If the report is to be believed and the french have managed to get rid of the problem, it will result in a huge fillip to the town as Calais has become a No Go route for many as a result of the troubles on the A16.

Calais was/is a nice town We used to like parking up in town and having a meal there. Though not done it for 5 or 6 years now, always feel the need to escape the place ASAP.

Passing through Calais from Brugges last week there was no sign of any 'grants.
There are impressive fences all around that area now.

not long enough
we have just come through into France, the fenced area now seems much higher and the armed police more obvious

no sign at all of any issues, although we did think the street lights on the main road out of the tunnel area and on the motorway seemed much brighter

That's because there aren't any fires every night so lights need to be brighter.:giggle:
