C&MC offer

Must admit we’re finishing CAMC prices a bit excessive… we have a budget in mind over the course of a week generally - being £240 for 7 nights - avg £30 per night. We do that as dynamic pricing means higher weekend pitch prices and lower mid week..
We also use independents as CAMC is convenient for booking but sometime I just don’t get the pricing when it is equal to a budget hotel.
The only area we are struggling with is north wales if anyone can make any suggestions?
Lots of THS about. We are in Wales now and found plenty of places.

Now,like many members you have probably received like offer (attached)View attachment 1059488
I wouldn't even consider paying "from" £44 a night.......
Would you?

Cheers 🍻
Hi, I did not renew membership this April, prices are absolutely ridiculous, at 77 and on state pension only I could never afford or even warrant paying their prices. I joined the motorcaravanners club, many weekend breaks on offer, and going to Blackpool for 5 nights, for £50 inclusive. Myself, my wife and our 30 year old Elddis Eclipse are looking forward to our trip.. Two of my sons have new motorhomes, and they did not renew with CAMC either, when will that club ever learn.

Try Haven Holidays they have three sites in north Wales at a reasonable price including ehu showers pool etc.

Just been wandering France for the past eleven nights, total overnight parking cost €21, that's less than £18 or £1.64 per night and £1.50 per night after tonight!

We will be moving on tomorrow when filled and emptied all for FREE, never need EHU with Lithium & PV on the roof.

Just one such free parking with free water & waste...

Its that good its worth saying twice :giggle:

I get people not wanting to pay club site fees, we don’t. However it seems worth remaining a member for the CLs.

Yeah, we've not stayed a single nitght at CAMC this year, but have stayed (thurdsay last week) at a CL. Our membership expires next month and I don't think we'll renew.

We say CAMC worth it for CLs if you use these, the CACC worth it for the cheap sites (way cheaper than CAMC) and THS, however we're less happy with thei CS's -> we've tried a few CS's and found them lacking in quality in some cases (maybe we were unlucky).

But the CACC however we are going to renew as we've stayed > 15 nights at club sites, and similar on THS.

CACC Can't Afford Crippling Charges

we are just back from 16 nights away on 3 different CAMC sites and they were all busy midweek and at weekends full.
so many members can afford the site fees
You might need to revise that, Before we gave it up, we tried to book a site a week before hand, and it was mostly full with none members, so we tried our second choice, it was the same there, that's when we decided enough is enough, and cancelled after many years.

Sorry new to the lingo what does THS mean?
Temporary Holiday Site = a campsite without electric hookup but providing elsan + water typically (disposal) + waste disposal.
Usually chargers per unit night, not per person, so very good for larger familys.

Available on the Camping and Caravvvaning club, not the caravan and motorhoem club, who also offer THS, but their varient is much more expensive. You access via an app called Out and About on a iphone/android to get the details, and for the camping and carvanning club for many of the sites you just turn up, but for some popular ones you need to phone/whatsapp the contact in the app.

Usually £10-15 quid a night in usefu places like Whitby, where nearby campsites for 2 people are often £40.

you stated "they were all busy midweek and at weekends full, so many members can afford the site fees" So many of them wasn't members, and that was confirmed by checking the computer bookings.

How does anyone know whether those on sites are members or not?

One manager of a certain site, who became quite good friends, checked the bookings, and on that check, you can see who are members and who are not.

Any "offer" from CAMC will be expensive and often available cheaper elsewhere. Still we have to keep Viscount Coke in his Airstreams.

So now you know why THS are more expensive but still way cheaper than club sites so I'm not sure what you now don't you won't use them as too expensive but still way cheaper than alternative?
THS? What is this abbreviation for?

We used Mill Farm campsite, way cheaper and just a 5 minute walk from the east entrance to Holkham estate.

This topic comes up time and time again however while folks keep paying the prices on CMC and C&CC sites nothing will change. Just returned from a 4 week trip in France and while it's not fair to make a direct comparison as you have to take in ferry costs and the extra fuel we find the French sites to be much cheaper and have more facilities. That said we got 20% "old dodderers discount" for being over 60 and the fuel was a little cheaper and there were FEWER potholes. We tend to view French sites as BOGOF as they are less than half the UK prices. One of my gripes with the club sites is the size of pitches and this silly "centre peg" and all facing the same way rule and the "health and safety" quotes as justification. Here is an example of a pitch near Giverny at £14.50 (€17) including EHU with indoor/outdoor pool, restaurant, bar, takeaway and lovely views over the river. Travelling from Notts we decided to stop at Cambridge CMC and Brighton CMC for one night each. Total cost £95.50. We stayed on a municipal site on the Isle of Noirmoutier for 7 nights for €101.50 - that works out at €14.50 per night or £12.20 - with sea views and 150 mtrs walk into town. I guess this will provoke a string of protectionism responses and this just proves my point. Folks just like to pay and moan about it.

I would just say that both big clubs allow you to park which way you want. The CAMC leaflet makes it absolutely clear. And the CAMC now has two pegs for you to park between! Apparently because too many couldn’t line up to the single peg.
I do wonder what is happening with the CAMC however. Just watched Field View Adventures who have reviewed the CAMC site in the new forest. They have about 5 different types of pitches there including premium pitches which are fully serviced including grey waste, plus hedges, and bench and place for your barbecue. At over £50 a night for two adults. Dogs can experience an agility course and dog wash, for no extra cost of course!

I've yet to see an offer which would suit the average motorhomer. :(

I wonder what an average motorhomer is like? We are happy to park up at sites a few miles from towns, electric bikes are great, uber, buses make places accessible. If we need to go further we can usually find places to park a 7.5 metre van by looking in Park4night. We don't go for a big set up on site. Can easily be ready to leave in 5 minutes. You sound like an average tugger.
