We travelled down the Elbe to Melnik. I had planned to go to Letomerice and Terezin but when Angela found out Terezin was a Nazi camp she wouldn't go. We do find it difficult to travel around sites where thousands of people were exterminated, We have done Oradour sur Glane in France but it was very chilling.
We went on to Autocamp Melnik, which is just outside the town and has lots of pitches, a restaurant and bar and is about £15 without electric. They also had a rally on and it was quite full. Around the back we found another field that was empty.

To get to the centre is a steep walk. We have said before we don't do steep hills but we didn't know. It all looks flat on a map. We headed for the old town and the castle. Just before it was a nice pub and I find it rude to walk by, especially when its hot.

The castle has a winery in its grounds so we thought we would visit it the next day. We went back to the site for a steak that was only about £8.

The Czechs eat more meat and drink more beer than the rest of the world combined (probably).
The next day we ran up the hill humming Kate Bush, I would gladly have done a deal with god for a taxi. We had a glass of wine in the castle and it was expensive vinegar.

It was a nice view overlooking the vineyards that had made the wine. It overlooks where the Elbe and the Vltava meet. There is also a canal with lock.

I am glad we are heathens who mostly like cheap wine from Spain or Aldi, if we were wine connoiseurs we would convince ourselves we like expensive rubbish and would have had to buy a bottle at £30. Luckily we like nice cheap beer more so hot footed it down to the micro brewery in the town. Here we tried two beers. One was like Guinness and the other like speckled hen bitter.

So we went back to the first bar and had Kozel instead.
