C&MC Leaking Taps (Live)

Why do the taps at Caravan and Motorhome Club sites leak like Niagara? They all seem to use the same rubbish coupling. At least no one steals them.

It looks like a vacuum breaker to me, so you can’t back syphon waste or cassette water back into the hose?

I’m guessing that’s not a drinking water tap?

Stopping reverse flow could well be the reason. It wouldn't be good if the waste water tap could contaminate the drinking water tap which is only a few feet away.

it is to stop back siphon but i would expect any back pressure to close the internal valve not dispense it all over your feet

They put those fittings on the black waste emptying points too. If you try to angle the pipe to clean the bowl, it squirts water all over you

It’s probably just an air gapped anti vacuum fitting with no valve or moving parts inside.....less maintenance or replacements and no sticking valve internals.......and your crocs will soon dry out
