Bluetooth is important for monitoring. The usb is neither here nor there if you are fitting it to to van 12v system. The specs seem good but no mention of the brand of BMS used. It's certainly cheap but a short warranty compared to some. ...

Personally I wouldn't buy lithium batteries from anyone other than a known reputable retailer - I bought ours from Sterling Power.

This guy rips open batteries and I respect his opinion.

If I were buying again I'd probably go for SOK or Battleborn. Happy with our Sterling Power ones. I'd also avoid any retailer who says the batteries are drop in replacements for lead-acid because I believe its marketing hype

Lithium batteries have always had to come from a reputable seller, as the fakes are more common than the real thing. This is independent of buying individual cells or full batteries with cases and BMSes.

I recommend the Ultramax brand of Lithium leisure batteries . Also used by a few other funsters including Raul

They probably have B grade used cells, or pouch to sell cheap. There’s no free lunch. But even b grade, with careful use, you still get 2-3k cycles out of them. Ten years ago, there was a handful of cell manufactures, now more ppl capitalised on the experience gained from the pioneers of LFP and started to fill up the market with various grades.
For example, the original thundersky disappeared within 5 years on the market, then bought out by Chinese company and currently producing best prismatics in the world, winston. Same fate for GBS. Victron used winston cells in their first generation of LFP at more than 1k for 100ah,

We'll, I'm assuming somebody bought them as they're now not available! I did ask the seller a couple of questions but he didn't get back to me. His advert did seem genuine, but as has been pointed out, the guarantee wasn't particularly a good reason to buy. I do think though that the seller was genuine enough.

Thanks to all those who offered their opinions and advice, much appreciated.

Wise to ask questions....we are going down the Lithium route when ours arrives at the end of our current trip..we went with Roamer.
The supplier has provided answers to questions to guide me through the conversion process...👍

mine 4 years old now its a drop in no problems

I had an Ecotree 100 aH Bluetooth "drop in" lithium battery and have now used it very successfully over the last 6 months , without any issues.. I just switched my mppt controller to a gel setting as the lithium setting has to be programmed in on my mppt controller .
I don't have a B2B as predominantly we tend to go on rallies for a few days so only travel the odd half day at most.
The inbuilt charger only works when on EHU so we don't need the battery then so a low charge rate from that is acceptable.
So far we have not seen the lithium drop below 60+% and has successfully recharged by the end of the day to around 90 % if we have been off grid.
If I were to change anything ,I would change the mppt controller to a lithium profile to get a few more amps out of the solar.I can't see the need to change my charger, or add a B2B currently. (y)

I am looking at a seatbase option so either the new Roamer 230ah or the KS Energy 200ah KS-SB200B. Haven't decided yet and would like to see a video of the inside of the Roamer before purchasing as that video above made me think twice about buying blind. Has anyone see a video of the inside build quality of the Roamer?

Going lithium has lots of advantages, but it also requires a lot more consideration than Lead Acid. All that glitters is not gold.
Consider the max amperage of the BMS. Is it enough to run that 2kw inverter?
Consider your charging systems so they neither overcharge the battery nor pump in amps when temperature is sub zero.?
Consider the vendor, will they. exist when the battery is only half way through its expected life to honour its warranty?
And is any lithium battery ever going to have a warranty that lasts the expected life of a lithium battery?

Its still early days and prices have halved in three years.
So have the latest lithium batteries on offer been cost reduced to a level where they just outlive a three year warranty.

If you want to go lithium then buy from a company who has been in business and in the public eye for at least ten years.

Just saying!!

My reason for going lithium was payload, I won 63 kg.

Well i have "dropped in" 2x KS Energy 155ah Lithium's in place of the 3x lead acids on my Frankia and they are working perfectly...so maybe not "marketing hype".

Over on the T6 forum, one of the very tech savvy guys has given the Roamer a complete workout and rates it very highly.
He has several threads about Roamer..
This one is relevant if you can see it

Roamer 230ah lithium

2 years ago I used Life Batteries down in Cornwall to buy my 150Ah Lithium battery, they are still going as is the battery, the latest ones have bluetooth, mine doesnt.
Mark is very knowledgable and helpful. I chose them becuse the battery uses Grade A EVE batteries which are up there in terms of performance and they also now use the Overkill BMS which Youtube Will Prowse really liked.

I’ve also bought one and have been using it ‘standalone’ in the van with an inverter until I can get a few days spare to install properly.

Will do a write up on it when it’s (mostly) done. So far I’m pleased - although not without some teething trouble in the first week, but the distributor/vendor/manufacturer(?) were helpful which is important, IMO.

Purchased mine from Roadpro. They also installed. Excellent service.

I can really recommend Eco Tree lithium batteries . I have had mine for a couple of years now and they are brilliant. I am am pretty sure they give a discount to MHF members but please check first. I have no connection with this company.

I've been very happy with the Roamer 230Ah battery. The only slight negative is that the range of the Bluetooth isn't great. I have to be within about 1m of it to get a reliable connection on my phone app.

I have 300ah LiFePo4 batteries from KS Energy and Quality Source. Both have Bluetooth and BMS and both perform really well, I have them in 2 different vehicles and they are both coupled with a Votronic Triple charger. No problems at all.

Battery upgrade is something i'm looking into at the moment.
Having seen a link to Roamer I thought I'd have a look they look i good outfit and not too unpractical travel wise for me either.
Having read other posts re Roamer I thought I'd email them this morning with a few questions. They have replied and are more than happy to help be with any other help I need.

Replying in person on a Sunday afternoon is a big (y). Say a lot about how the company view it's levels of service.

I had exactly the same immediate response from Steve, the Roamer boss, to my late evening email. Very impressive.

Saying that, I’m probably setting them up for a fail, as all folks will now expect an instant response or be disappointed .. eek!

He's sent me 3 replies tonight to questions i've just asked yet another questions so here's hoping for yet another reply.

Just about it being a drop in replacement for my AGMs..

Roamer do a Facebook group..."Campervan Electrics" lots of factual information there..😀👍
