I am due my 3rd D4 Medical for UK C1 renewal at end of year, or a Polish one if I change my licence to Polish by then.

We currently run a N&B Arto(2003) which was uprated from 3500kg to 3850kg so could be downplated to 3500kg again in event of loss of C1.

I have been looking at 'A' Class quality marques and it seems they have no models which could match that possibility. Even N&B's comparatively new Smove model('C' Class) would struggle to give 2-300Kg payload with some extras fitted and their Sales Manager, Jurgen, said they did not sell any models under 3500kg - at least honest.

I think the next approach is to research what the Polish Medical is like for the C1, as talk is that it is quite easy. - I have got Basia on the case. At least it lasts for 5 years so buying over 3500kg would not carry such a risk.

But is getting quite a problem for us over 70s to find quality build that does not depend on continuous passing of the Medical.

It's a big issue Geoff.

Whether the van is upmarket or not, there's now a huge problem with the whole moho industry in terms of it not being able to build a reasonable sized van which is both usable and legal at the 3.5T limit.

I wish you well with your next D4 Medical.

All the best,

Andrew
