Buying a Motorhome that hasn’t been taxed or SORNED

Hi I’m interested in buying a Motorhome but it hasn’t been used and therefore taxed for 6years. However the previous owner hadn’t SORN’ed it. Who would be eligible for paying the back tax or is there anyway round this. The back tax is £1600

Thank you for the reply. Would the previous owner still get billed for the back tax after the sale because I think this would depend on whether he would be willing to continue the sale. He’s elderly but hasn’t used it in a while.

He would have had many letters from the dvla and probably a few fines as well by now so whether he sells or not it's going to cost him

The previous owner is liable for the unpaid tax and a possible fine of up to £1000.

On a different tack, is it moveable after 6 years of standing, if it has been standing and not driven on private land or not even started, and what state are the tyres in?
Just my thoughts.

We’re going to get someone to look at that side of things too. We know it has been sitting unused for so long then we approached the owner to see it he would be interested in selling it so still at an early stage and potentially a lot of issues to think about.

I find it very hard to believe its been neither taxed nor sorn.
The owner would have had numerous letters from DVLA including court letters a long, long time ago.
DVLA are like terriers.... Once the get hold of you they don't let go.
