Help, should the water pump run constantly? tank is full of water and when you switch on "tap button" from control panel you can hear the pump humming away regardless of whether a tap is on or not, even if its left for a few minutes you can still hear it humming, is this normal???

Additionally, waste tank is not filling up, discharge pipe is in the open position and grey water exits immediately (dont want to start a grey water argument lol) There is a button in the garage with 3 positions, up = tap dripping , middle (iI assume off) and down a tap-not dripping.
I have tried all 3 positions with the bathroom sink turned on and the waste water still comes straight out,

Any help appreciated. Never got a handbook from last owner so anyone with one for a 747 that they dont want or could loan (happy to pay a deposit and postage)

You don't say what type of water system you have.
Pump should only run when a tap is open. If it is a pressure system probably just needs the pressure valve adjusting on the pump output.
If it is a microswitch system where each tap has a switch in it, could be a faulty switch.

Sounds like you have an electric dump valve that has failed. I don't know why it has 3 positions though.

Ref the 3 way switch. Habitation 12v switch inside the van must be turned on !, press in at top will open the valve and let water flow.
Press switch to bottom position to close the valve, you should hear a whirring noise as the valve closes. The centre setting is just a rest position, I always leave mine set there. If you don't hear any noise then maybe a fault with the 12v supply or a faulty electronic valve.

NO you should not have the pump running all the time.. Could be a dump valve open somewhere, a leak in a pipe or a faulty microswitch in a tap.. If the van has been drained down you need go check all places where there is a dump valve. On my Elegance there is one by the pump and another 2 in the rear garage by the boiler... so have a good look around.

Have a look on the outlet pipe on the tank if its a pressure system there will be a pressure switch inline.

should look like one of these.

If not it will be microswitches in the taps that operate the pump, check all the taps are fully off.

Same waste switch as mine. You should hear a noise as you move between top and bottom positions. As above make sure habitation 12v is switched on.
