Morning all

For those of you familiar with these makes, what order would you put them in overall in terms of build quality and/or reliability? 1 - 6 with 1 being best.

Pilote
Chausson
Fleurette/Florium
Rollerteam
Bailey
Burstner

Thanks!

Hav had chausson rubbish back in 2011, but have improved, Bailey never again terrible quality, rubbish service from bailey and Campbell's. Both were bought from new. Burstner a class good van bought second hand but shower tray was broke and leaked badly for the whole 3 yrs we had it. I think the older ones were better built, not as keen on new builds. Of the ones you mention I think pilote would be my choice, but that would also depend on layout and obviously cost.

My British van is as good if not better built than all German vans! 😉

Agreed.
Happy with the quality of my Autosleeper. Dealer support good (y) Warranty support excellent (y)
Have had Hymer, Laika, Knaus and Burstner in the past, so comparing with past experience.

Had 2 Burstners so 1 from me.Wouldnt consider a Bailey or Rollerteam.
I’ve got a Rollerteam now but need to change vans. I do love the Burstner quality, just need to find a few more pennies 😉

Only had experience of a A class Pilote and a A class Rollerteam the Rollerteam being the current van and coming upto 7 years old we have had no issues with the build quality, much better then the Pilote
Hi! We have a Pegaso 590 at the moment and love the layout and design, but sadly need to change it as I can’t manage the bed now after I sustained a couple of injuries. Gutted really because we’ve had it for less than a year, and wouldn’t otherwise be looking to change tbh.

Thanks for that. The pilote 626 or 696 fit the bill for what we need I think, I’m just worried about making a wrong decision and regretting it. We’ve only had our current van for less than a year and love it really - wouldn’t be looking to change were it not for a couple of health issues making its layout impractical for me now.

Are you planning to stop around 6 mtrs? Pilote do the P620 with a drop down bed in the main area or are you looking at fixed twin singles? The Carado T337 or Adria DL compact would be worth looking out for Both are under 7 mtrs

Top = German
Middle = French
Bottom = British.
We bought a brand new Dethleffs Globus I1 in 2017 the thing was so badly built and designed that we traded it in at a loss for the current Rollerteam Pegaso 590 as far as I am concerned the rating don't go low enough to rate that particular Dethleffs

Have you considered Carado or Adria?
Love the look of an Adria 600 but haven’t found one at a price we can stretch to unfortunately. Been disappointed at the trade in offers we’ve had on our current van, so the pennies are a bit tighter than I’d hoped they’d be. Actually don’t know anything about Carado. I’m looking for something under 7m either electric drop down bed, preferably over a lounge area.

RollerTeam sell vans to the rental market. Those models are pretty basic and built to a price. Their T-Line and Pegaso vans are rather different and head towards mid table. They are pretty much identical to the Mobilvetta K-Yacht.

Have a look at the on line review of the Carado

Thanks for that, I’ll take a look. We’d have to go for used rather than new. The trade in offers we’ve had on our van so far have been shocking - we bought it late March last year. It’s so much easier to trade in rather than sell privately, but I’m starting to think we might have to go that route instead.

In this mad world of motorhome ownership ,I think that has nailed it but also the responses have highlighed the challenges of very different experiences shared and thats before you add it another massive variable of dealer selection

Having been a member of FUN for 9 years I've read countless horror stories from most manufacturers.
We spent 2 years looking at vans and reading of thousands of members experiences before throwing our life savings at our current van, an Elddis Accordo 105 Prestige despite hearing bad things about Elddis build quality. Most peoples main fear is water ingress but the fact that Elddis gave a 10 year water ingress warranty showed their confidence in their product.
In 7 years of ownership the only issue we've had was our fridge wouldn't stay lit on gas which raised its head in the first month. No other issues at all. We may just be lucky.
On the other hand my brother in law bought a new Dethleffs and had nothing but trouble with build quality related issues. He got rid of it less than 2 years later.
He came across it in a dealers in November and made some enquiries and was shocked to hear that it's had 3 owners since he sold it 5 years ago!
I've long been of the opinion that motorhome build quality is a bit of a lottery. You pay your money and take your chances unfortunately. 🤷‍♂️ :rollingeyes:
