I have twice. Was supposed to travel June 2020 then moved it to June this year now moved it to June 2022. No charge. Booked economy. But if you change to a crossing more expensive then you pay the difference. Likewise if you book a crossing less than your original crossing then you won't get a refund of the difference. My new booking was less expensive so I just upgraded to a better cabin to make it up to my original fare. Hope that makes sense.
P.s My booking is Plymouth to Santander and it is on my motorbike, but its still an economy ticket.

Last December we had an Eco. ticket to Spain.
BF allowed me to move the ticket but wouldn't give me a voucher.
I had to use the funds to buy another Eco tx. If I spent more I had to cough up. If my new tx was less then I lost that portion of the tx.

I eventually moved the trip four times and currently waiting for the end of Nov.

Not sure economy boat goes to Santander, I think it’s Bilbao. Give them a ring their very clued up.

All that would be true in 'normal' times but they readily amended our tx. three times for trips planned in May 2021 without charge, except in circs explained in my previous posting.

As others have said the only way to find out the situation now is to contact BF, the information that I posted is direct from their website but the situation is obviously changing.

Ordinarily as a Tyke, I would (and have done in the past) choked at the thought of paying extra for the privilege of amending a ticket.
I still feel the principle of offering such a 'service' is a form of subtle blackmail as opposed to charging anyone who requests an amendment.

However, the last 15months have skewed my thoughts on the matter, tightwad or not.

Since they introduced this pricing structure I have tried a couple of the different options.

Because we regularly have to amend in normal circumstances we go for the standard option, it is normally £20 dearer than economy but that is the cost of one amendment.

We rarely have to amend at the last minute so 2 weeks notice is usually ample.
