It’s also on Apple, but can’t see how to subscribe or get an unlock key. Just email them the question, so we’ll see.

This is definitely the way ahead for BritStops and well done Steve and Tracy 👍🏻

The way I’m reading the app, is that you’d also need the book and sticker, so I’m guessing that the unlock key comes when you order the book again, which to me, negates why you’d have the app. if that’s correct I don’t understand why as pay for subscription to the app, get it unlocked and away you go. It would save printing the book and lots of baby trees.

Hopefully I’m wrong and I’ll pay for an unlock code and bobs your uncle, or anns your auntie 🤷🏼‍♂️

The unlock lock code is in the front of the book that you buy. You can only use the code to unlock the app on one device.
Thanks for that, seems a funny ole way of doing business, why not just use the app 🤷🏼‍♂️

Won’t buy the book again, far too bulky and not easy to use, especially if you have mild arthritis etc, plus I have so many already in the van and then there’s the amendments that you’d need to do in the book as pubs either come on or off line, which is totally impractical and there’s no way you can remove or insert pages. Suppose you could prit-stick em in, but what a palaver, so ain’t for me.

What a shame, as I’ll now delete the app again.

I was getting quite excited about using it on the iPad, but never mind.

I quite agree. I would love to support britstops but I cant be doing with all the downloading extra pages and shuffling them in and out of the book

Me too.

Especially as there are so many other ways of finding somewhere to park up. I subscribe to Park4night (other options are available) and used them quite a lot, especially as it’s so easy to use on me iPad.

I also use Google Earth to view places to park, including pubs etc. I then view them on street view and if they’re big enough to support us parking, I turn up, go and park and then just walk in and ask if I can park for the night, as we’ll be eating and drinking manly beers. So far I’ve never been turned away 🍻

The book was all they had, I guess this is the transition period onto an app which means the 2 have to overlap for a while until it's all sorted.
I'm sure they will drop the book as soon as the app proves successful

I do hope so, as I’d subscribe and use the app. Here’s in anticipation of its development 👍🏻

It’s what Acsi do with their discounted sites App. It’s a proven model.

Acsi don’t think so. See above.

No need to do that with the App though. It’s what ACSI do with their discounted sites App.

Maybe, or maybe they’ll stick with both as does ACSI.

It is great that it’s all available on the App though.

Thank you for the update, but I won’t get the BritStops book again and can’t think of a bigger waste of resources than the huge yearly book, how much it must cost to produce and, to me, what the impact must have on the environment.

Got enough books already in the van, what with C&MC, National Trust, English Heritage etc, then don’t want another one. especially at the size of it. It’s all a shame, as businesses the likes of NT and English Heritage have excellent websites, but still produce books, all be it much smaller and easier to use.

I agree with your arguments but was simply pointing out that the model isn’t unique.

So You can get a free app that you can’t use unless you buy some book that has a code in it.

or have I got that wrong .. £28.00. Plus postage.

You’re right and I did used to use the free version, but in paying a few squiddlies, it helps the developers and unlocks so much more.
I had the free one for years, but like you, two years ago signed up for the paid version, but didn't like it half as much as the free one, too much information over crowed it in my opinion, and I ended up turning all the bells and whistles off and was paying for the free version.

When the updates come out, the book will need updating as normal, but all the update will be done on the app for you, so you can just use the app all the time and bin the book if you wished. I still like looking at books for days out/stops etc. especially if poor signal areas. I still get the all the aires books as well as cc subscription.

From what Ladylinda54 said in post #7, that’s about the size of it.

I’m sure Steve and Tracy will be developing the app further, as they’ll capture more people I think. They could actually offer both as I can imagine there are some that like to have the book.

Yes, same as the ACSI system.

Were you after something for nothing?

Needs to have an annual subscription charge, like most other apps have, no one’s suggested something for nothing, although apps like park4night have both the free, reduced service edition and then the full subscribed edition, which I opt for, but it ain’t £28 squiddlies a year. Of course they use advertising for the free edition, which I’m not a fan of, hence I’m happy to subscribe too.

Be happy to do the same with BritStops, if it was made available.

It does, and comes with a free book! 😎

What do any of you think of britstops ?

It doesn’t get great reviews on the App Store so is it worth getting ?

Britstops are great - probably true to say the app, which is new this year (the scheme itself has run for years using a book) has had a mixed start but I think it’s a useful addition to the scheme.

Love a Brit stop and love flicking through the 📖
